long time member, new account.

I was set on buying a Luxx 645w but realized it’s 49” wide, likewise it looks like the Sun Systems is about an 1” wider than I would want.

I know theGavita will fit, any other suggestions?

Hlg scorpion diablo is on my wishlist
Gavitas nice but if im not mistaken it runs at 100% without additionally buying the controller. Probably best for 5x5 but will fit a 4x4

Their not cheep but mine was 20” away from tops and I had solid rock hard nugs 39” deep into my canopy that where 1” away from my coco……first time iv ever harvested a plant with ZERO larf on it….I didn’t even clean up the bottom at all…..59 total inches away from my light the lowers were…..39 of which was covered by dence ass canopy…….the 3 way spectrum controls and the 720-750nm far red in that light are responsibal for zero larf

All PPFD charts can be manipulated by raising and lowering the light......often it's not apples to apples, and more like apples to pears. I'm now on my 5th gavita grow, and although I've had other manufacturers send me LED's to compare, I still favor the gavita's.

Medic Grow has a nice "Fold 8" LED for $589 which is considered a Best Buy in most circles. They gave me one, I like it a lot. But it's not a Gavita (which cost me $1200), but it's damn close. LOL

By the way, I've averaged over 50 oz per light my first 4 grows with them.

12 plants in the 4 X 4........I veg for 28-30 days. No training, but lots of defoliation. The LED's keep the plants nice and short, the defoliation opens up the plants so light hits all the branches equally so they can develop equally too. Sativa's I top once, indicas I just leave alone.

Do a google search for "sshz and orange gasm" for my thread over at the farm with over 54K views. Or "sshz and sweet zombie" that has over 51K views. Detailed grow threads start to finish.

What distance do you keep the light at 100%?

From seedling to flower?

You definitely have to watch the seedlings/plants closely for distortion or unhealthy growth. I've been doing this a long time, over 35 years now, so it's easy for me to look and diagnose any issues or problems quickly.

I keep the LED's around 40 inches above the pots at the seedling stage, and let them grow towards the led without moving it. At flowering, I lower to 20 inches above the canopy, wherever it is. Read my threads above, it's detailed there in each grow.

Do you get those numbers from any other strains?

i kill it with my cake cut. Just recently switched my DE’s over to the 1930e’s. Pretty close to same #’s. 4+/- with that cut but a solid 3 with every other strain i grow, or grew. Just like with DE’s. 24ish sqft per fixture.

I’ve had 4 finished crops, averaging 103 oz...........but I typically grow strains that are high yielders. I imagine with a poor yielder you’ll get 40% less.

The key to all this is figuring how to get an even, thick canopy. All 4 strains I’ve grown had a similar canopy. Top all the plants to create more branches, defoliate to allow light to hit everything in the room top to bottom and keep the light low enough to control the stretch- those are the keys in a nutshell.

P.S.- Just to be clear, I have 2 gavita's in a 4 X 8 area. I grow in 4-5 gallon pots in promix with added perlite. I use Botanicare Pure Blend Pro with 5-10ml added Cal/Mag per each gallon. Past that not much more- I'm a K.I.S.S. type of guy. Less is more with marijuana, but most people have a difficult time understanding that.

Nice. 3.3 lbs per light is bad ass, especially when each light is only covering a 4’x4’ space. I’m only getting 2.64 lbs per 4x4 area when i say I hit 4lbs per light. 4x6’ area per light.

I grow trees nowadays. And most of the strains i grow you gotta pinch the shit out of them in veg to get the branching i’m after. But yeah, getting that canopy right is key to all setups. I will never defoliate but I do clean up the bottoms. Always have always will, even when i grew in rails.

Man, i’m not trying to nit pick your shit because it’s evidently working great for you but 5-10ml/gal of calmag is allot. I’ve never had to use that much. Not even with RO water and in coco lol. I rocked the botanicare PBP for a bit some years back. That shits way too expensive for my liking nowadays. Same with most all other liquid nutes. But the PBP is like one of the most expensive and i didn’t find it to be better than all the others.
i’m down with KISS. I rock Megacrop and ph down and keep some ph up on the shelf in case i fuck up.

Ok, a few things.......

My last couple of threads at the Farm have 54k hits, 51k hits and over 45k hits and they were all closed back in March I think. They still seem to be expanding with about a 1000 new views a month. If you are a newbie, I’d definitely take the time to read thru those as they are very thorough in detail.

My last thread on Ethos End Game just finished over at cocoforcannabis. I don’t like the sites layout, but I won a really nice led and figure I owed it to them. So there’s a condensed but decent grow thread there.

I have started the room up again with 2 strains, but they are babies and not much going on. I just haven’t decided if I want to do a thread this crop, as football is starting up and I do a lot of sports posting too. We’ll see.

I use reverse osmosis water too, and I find I need to start with 5ml cal/mag and raise to nearly 10ml later on to keep everything healthy and from tacking. All my grows I detail this. It works for me, but not for others. I’m thinking the promix also has something to do with the plants being so needy. I typically fertilize on the low end, except for the cal/mag.

I left RIU for the Farm when things got childish here, with too much fighting, name calling, bickering, and a total loss of mission IMO. I’ve been permanently banned from the farm now, for the FIFTH time, lol. I tend to spread out more now and visit 6-7 sites and just give some input here and there. I’ll think about a new thread shortly.
