Gavita light question

Yo everyone!

So I’m in week 3 of flower at the moment and I have a Gavita CT 2000e with the EL2 master controller.

The fitting is a like for like replacement for the 1000HPS and I’m currently running the lights at 85% of max capacity on the controller.

I’ve had a word with Gavita and they couldn’t give me an answer!

Has anyone had any experience with these lights or have any sorts of Gavita LED lighting? Don’t want to give them too much light at this stage. Any help appreciated!

Thanks

Don't go off the light setting, go off the actual PPFD at the top of the canopy, regardless of light power or percentage.

If you don't have a PAR meter there is a android/iOS app that works pretty good called Photone. Just know if you have an iPhone you need to put a clean piece of printer paper over the phone to get an accurate reading.

Optimal Light Levels (PPFD)
  • Clone stage: 150-250 PPFD
  • Vegetative stage: 400-600 PPFD
  • Early flowering stage: 600-800 PPFD
  • Late flowering stage: 800-1000 PPFD

It’s a hell of a light. One of the only real 1:1 replacements. Ive never used that one but priced it out was impressed. Went with a more affordable light but I’m sure you’ll be happy.
Get that meter and follow advice above. You’d be suprized you might want to dim 50% and who knows could be 4 feet above canopy or more. Definitely be careful with the intensity

Definitely going to download that app today as I have no reader (might invest in one)

So here they are on start of week 3 at the moment! They look really happy, feel like the hard work is paying off.

First one back after around 8 years man, this has been a massive learning curve with new lighting, first ever time checking EC, new strain etc.

blood sweat and tears have gone into this, hopefully they reward me well at the end

Do you have above canopy pics? Are these the same 5 plants from a month ago that you pruned and flipped?

Looks nice, I just cannot tell which plant is which. Is this a 4x4?

Hey bro,

Thanks! Yeah these are the ones I fucked the FIM on ha

Space is 4m2 but I’m not utilising all of the space as I don’t think the fitting has that much of a spread, it might do on 100% but on 85% at the moment. I wouldn’t do more than 5 plants under one of these LED’s I’m glad I only did this amount tbh as a test.
Tried my best to get an even canopy but there were two that took off in height, nothing major though.

They have turned out to be relatively small, around 0.7m in height is the average.

Turn that light up to 110. Those plants are ready for it and not over lit by any means. Also looking good n green there. Nice job! Downhill from here. What’s your medium?

Thanks man appreciate that, been a tough one this but getting there slowly now. There’s so many things I would do differently on the next, but you never stop learning I suppose.

Yeah I’m happy with the colour, they are really light feeders, they are currently only on 0.7ec and the run off ec is like 10% higher so they definitely don’t need more which is surprising at this stage?

They are in canna coco, I’m feeding them powdered nutrients instead of liquid now. I was using shogun nutes up until two weeks before I switched, was a big risk to change at that stage but they just didn’t look happy at all so I switched to Hydroponic Research VBX and they’ve never looked happier. I had no idea how easy powdered nutes are until now! Was mixing about 6-7 different liquid nutes, it was a joke.

Definitely recommend that feed if you’ve never heard of it? It’s designed for LED as well.

Nice. I was gunna mention how nice the looked respectably for being under such a powerful light. Keep up the good work! I never understood buying water with cool artwork much. So powder for the win !!
