i probably posted more useful info than anybody for the OP who knew nothing at all about DE lights when he entered this thread. gave him some solid links to learn about the gear. if thats trolling well... i dunno.

Hmm I didnt see it that way. Stephens post is what sent me down the right path. I didn't even read what you posted. I quit doing that a few pages back when you joined the Butthurt bandwagon with Juan Pablo or whatever his name is.

Look up nanolux maxpar. It's a DE hps arc tube and chemistry in a SE package. Use a ballast that is 100mhz plus made for DE and you'll solve your problems.
I can't find any info if it's universal position? don't think it matters with sodium arcs though, more of a mh/cmh issue,idk..........also I think that DE needs to be run horizontal/in a reflector to keep the arc at optimum temp(600c+), hence no direct cooled hoods. Vert/bare bulb might just negate the efficiency bump and the OP should just stick to a quality 1000w SE bulb/2 600w SE...........

I'm waiting on call from the rep to ask this very question.

Right so I just got off the phone with a rep and he claimed that the SE-DE conversation bulbs are a UNIVERSAL position bulb and can be mounted in any configuration. He also said that their tests showed no loss in performance when the bulb was cooled.

What about the blind spot where the bar goes across? 2 if them back to back would give a full 360d coverage i guess

I thought about that. I don't think it would be that big of a deal honesty but placing them like you say is a good idea. I'm more concerned two would be "too much" In my little 8' octagon.

This is misinformed and wrong, just google AC/DC reflector, it's directly air cooled.

Good to know, thanks for the info....... guess the outer envelop keeps the arc in check on that SE configuration?

Does anybody else think Tom Hanks is a true American treasure? I simply can't wait to see his brilliant portrayal of "Sully", the captain who risked it all and saved everyone, only to be put on trial for making a choice no man should ever be asked to make.
