General grow room help...

This is my first thread so I'll just lay out what I've got. Right now I'm growing bag seed and have 24 beautiful ladies under 1000w HPS. They are around 2.5 feet tall in second week of flowering. This is my first grow but I have a BA in horticulture so I have a little greenhouse experience. I'm using an e&f system. My pH is around 5.8 and ppm is around 1200. I'm using botanicare products. I've had a small bit of curling(some leafs almost look to be serrarated) and lower leaf browning as well as a small amont of general yellowing. I added some superthrive when I first moved over to e&f. I also just added some cal-mag plus just hoping i have a micro defficency. I just removed males and moved in some new babes from T5. I have built a growroom that I think meets all the right criteria. My temps under light is a bit high at 85F. So maybe that could be part of my problem. I have fans in the room and 10" vortec yet i have the vortec timed to come on once every couple of hours. I've done this to try to bring up my humidity. Even now with a humidifier its around 55%. An AC duct feeds the room fresh c02 and is all the temp regulation that I have. Temp in the rest of the room is around 78F. The room size is 12'x12' and absolutely everything is covered in mylar. I have ordered my seeds and plan to expand to four trays after this harvest. I plan to grow Northern lights, Big Bud, Whitewidow max and afgani-thai. I'll get some pictues up soon after this tread but have none just yet. A couple questions I have is these. I'm using a 4x6 flood tray and #3 containers is 1 per foot too many? Can I expect to get a good yeild at this spacing? The room is set up with an isle down the center of two 12'x4' tables. If I have 2-4x6 flood trays on each side would two 1000w HPS lights over each table on a mover work fine? Would I loose yeild this way? If I did loose yeild would it be enough to warrant the purchase of these other two lights and powering them. I'll put some pictures up later. Thanks in advance for all your help!

just thought i'd give you a hello to the site. the reason you're not getting any response is there are just too many variables to help you with yield questions and your plant health questions need pics and a more specific post heading. you probably have three or four separate posts here. while you are a first timer, your set up and therefore your questions are pretty advanced -make it a little easier for us and you'll get a lot of help,as i have.

regarding the temp, i can help you. is your thermometer exposed to the light? the temp guidelines for weed are given for air temp at the top of the canopy but shaded from the radiant heat of the lamp.

sounds like you have a good setup....

couple questions.. concerning curl and yellowing..

how close are your lights to the plants... if you place your hand on the top of the plant while your lights are on, your hand should be comfortable (usually 12-18" away)..

are you using any zyme at all??? or micro nutrients???

1200 PPM may be a little too much at 2 weeks into flowering, but thats just my experience, at that point i am usually at 800-1000

I have had my 1000 watter too close to the plants before. Heat was not an issue by it being close. They turned yellow. I could move a leaf that was yellow and the one under it would have a perfect out line of the leaf i moved.

It would seem to me that the lower leaves turning color is mainly light deficiency.

I havebeen told to pluck the lower leaves whenthey fade like that, it just lets more energy be diverted to the nuggz.

ButI am no expert.

Not likely....1000watt hps light what was 18" and is now 2' over a 4x6 tray. Should be plenty of light.

I just let the leaves fall off on there on accord. The plant knows when it doesn't want it leaves better than I.

Partially true, but you need to be able to recognize an ill plant or deficiancy, otherwise all we have is a pile of leaves ;)

I mostly meant the lower leaves on my more mature plants. I'm fairly sure that I just had a little nute burn. I think your the guy that asked about the micros. I really am just using cal-mag and superthrive as sups. You think i have a micro def. I did have a day of 1700ppm accidentally a week or so ago but I'm not real concerened with their health. Only two of the plants (the tall droopy one and the serrated leaf lady) are exibiting any notable shock or symptoms.

if you hit about 1700, i would bet it all on that??? i'm a wimp when it comes to nutes, i try to start real slow and usually finish near 1200-1400 max... thats just me tho. I had some burns a few times and decided at that point i was gonna start with 1/4 of the reccomended and work my way up to 3/4 and never hit 100% again..

I was just teasin bout the pile of leaves lol, i knew you knew better than that, my humor must not have been visible (typical of me) ;)

No prob leafcouple...I'll get it in the future. You know I think your right about the nutes. I think the next run I'll take it a bit slower. I started out foliar feeding from a very young age(week one) and most of the girls took to it really well and I think that may partially be why only two of the plants were affected by the 1700ppm. I began with 58 plants. Lost four and ended up with 7 males. Not a bad ratio huh? Just got lucky I figure.

sounds like the weed gods were watching over ya with those kinda ratios ;)

try and reduce your temps to around 80.... i have all most the exact same set up with the same strains! what hieght did you begin flowering at? those big bud and NL can easily handle 1200 ppm week two.... they max out around 1800 ppm or so. but these plants will not be able to focus on photosynthesis if the temps are about 85 and co2 use stops at 85. i am using 4 600watts instead of 2 1000watts and the only other diff is i switch too ebb & grow from ebb & flow when i go to the flower room. I flower at around 2' plants are as tall as 64".

Its the rare occassion to see 85 but I just added another fan so lets she how that does. I also flower at around two feet or five internodes
