General Organics vs General Hydroponics

how often were you flushing? if you were flushing every week or two, then it makes sense that the organics didn't have time to break down into soluble, chelated forms usable by the plant.

an alternative to brewing teas would be to dosing an aquarium with organic fert, letting it digest for a week, then topping off your hydro res with the fish/organic water. the aquarium filter will filter out any undigested organic solids.

once in the hydro system, the nitro bacteria will prevent root rot, although it's not likely to survive for long without a steady supply of ammonia. but that's the same as soil bacteria: it can't survive in an aqueous environment very long. same benefit though, and cheaper (free).

i haven't flushed in over 10 weeks with my aquaponic system. have been dosing with bioweed here and there, and have had no problems with gunk or rot. i think the fish, snails, naturally occurring bacteria, and humic acids (from pond clarifier products) do a good job of breaking it down quickly. i've also added nirvana with no issues, but that seems like it's super soluble to begin with. my system also has a vortex filter to trap suspended organic material, which gets digested by a pleco. scavenger fish groom any particles off of the roots. pump filter needs to be rinsed about every two weeks.

switching to GO + calmag next grow (dec 1?) and seeing how far i get with that. not going to be a scientific experiment in that i can't segregate my system into ap+synthetic and ap+organic subsystems for a side-by-side comparison. the strain will also likely vary from my current grow. i leave it up to my clone supplier: "chef's choice."

If you mean how often did I dump the organic nutes, I didn't. I didn't feed them the last two weeks is all. Organics take a long time to break down, so you lose a lot of the benefit if you don't give it a chance to work. The roots look discolored in the photo from the organic buildup around the root system, but the roots themselves were bright white, firm and healthy.

And I have reason to believe GO + CaliMagic is a better pair than GO + CalMag.

Skimpy report from industry guy:

Thing 1: Strongest (2nd)
Thing 2: Favorite
Think 3: Pretty good

Current Totals:
Thing !: 11 points
Thing 2: 7 points
Thing 3: 9 points

And the tenth and last report:

Viper guy:

Thing 1:Sweet, slightly fruity
Thing 2:Bland in comparison to 1&3
Think 3:Not as sweet as 1, and more floral than fruity. Best flavor. Thing 1 a close second.

Which completes the panel of ten. Will post any others that trickle in, but I'll take these first ten as my sample.

Final Tally:

Thing 1: 12 points
Thing 2: 7 points
Thing 3: 11 points.

Now to go back to the thing jars, take the lids apart, and find out which thing is which.

Great work! I waited until the end for it but you just earned yourself some rep points. Check out my current grow some time, DWC, GH Flora nutes, ect... https://www.rollitup.org/michigan-patients/580281-back-saddle.html

#1 was detectably fruity on the inhale; smooth and no harshness on the throat. Very nice aroma, has a berry-fruit, light citrus taste and scent, but with just a hint of floral notes on the top. I get a slight Frankincense flavor with some woody bottom notes. Sweet, but potent. Slightly creeper. Very good smoke, head high, energizing, creative thought inducing. Very tasty, and the sweetness lingers.

#2 a little more harsh, no fruit nor floral fragrance, no fruit flavor, hits the back of my throat hard. It’s a good smoke, and a mellow, head high, and also is very energizing. I missed the fruit and floral notes in this one. It also has a stronger Frankincense smell and taste to it, stronger than in #1. I detect a bit of pine scent, woody bottom notes, I’m not getting the honey-sweetness of the Frankincense, just the essence of pine topped with a hint of lemon.

#3 Fresh cut florals! Fresh berries and citrus! A bit of bite on the inhale, and on the exhale, bright floral notes come forth in abundance, with much more flavor and scent than in #2, and slightly more than #1. The scent and taste is both woody and floral, with a light, berry-citrus fruit scent and pineapple-mango taste on the top notes. There is also a subtle softening of the bright and woody flavors with a hint of vanilla, which mutes it slightly. #3 has layers of flavor, and it’s easy to detect the florals, the fruit and the woody earthiness. This is my favorite of the three.

I ran this test twice, on different days, and #3 is definitely my favorite. It has layers of flavor and scent that make it a delicious smoke, and a mellow, yet energetic high. However, I think all three samples are very good, and I liked all of them. #3 just had more layers of flavor and scent.

This was a great read. I have a request, since you like doing comparisons..... Veg + Bloom by hydroponic research. Versus your top finishing GH synthetic line up. Grow and taste comparison. :)

Hydroponic research will send you enough for free for an entire grow no doubt.

I plan on doing this comparison myself on my next grow.

By popular request, I'm going to do this on again in soil at least. I haven't tried the Hydroponic Research line, but that sounds like a cool line to try too.

Not sure how much you've read about the Veg+Bloom from Hydroponic Research but its been gaining a lot of hype over the last year or so. They have a rep(s) posting on 4-5 different cannabis growing forums pretending to have no affiliation with the actual company but preaching how great their nutes are. The good part is that its a complete one formula product that you can use for the entire grow and its FREE! Its not really free free but they are giving away free generous size samples to anyone who requests one. Now that its been out for a while other have tried it with good result so i figured i'd take a crack at it and do a side by side trial against GH flora in my next grow.
