So i have decided to move my grow area. I need more space. I figure I can move it into the back end of my basement. The new space will be 16x14. Any suggestions on lighting that space, or layout. My current foot print for things are 4x8

It all depends on how full you want it.

I will suggest cob and floros or strait floros. How much yeild do you want? How often?

I have a lot of lights. a good mix of stuff. I kind went crazy. I just really mean layout. I am thinking maybe 3 rows that are 3 feet wide and 11 feet long. Plus with my light setup I can really test a bunch of stuff.
I have cobs, and floros, HPS, MH, led strips.

maybe put my grow tables on casters? then i can make them 4 feet wide and not have to worry about placement as much? I can just move them to get to the backs...

It you build it, it will grow.

Grow the same strain if you can. Hell, brow a couple strains and mother/clone them.

Expirament with mylar sheets and compare .

Use the same nutes across the board.

Or use 3 different nute blends and compare each to each light.

Science is fun. Life should be an experiment, make your grow one and invest in the best. Sell the rest.

iu got bored and decided to share some of my favorite links.

i just found this. i started some clones after i lollipoped my plants and the idea of throwing away the small weak growth saddened me.

lucas formula. i had too many issues with GH 3 part lucas and kept trying to reduce, increase, or add other ingredients. i decided to switch to just GH flora nova 2 part veg and flower. since i went into flower i only have experience with that one. it is doing MUCH better. im using that and a mild dose of armor si.

EDIT:
i found books.

So I decided to turn a 14x16 space in my basement into a grow room. I figured this is as good of a place as any to chronicle my endeavor. Feel free to give idea's, suggestions, or i've always thought this might be cool if's...

You should grow some opium while you are at it.

and the first coat is done. Next will be with "High Reflective White" by Sherwin Williams. Then its time to do power and water.

it is, its in my basement.

anyone think its worth putting that reflective insulation on the ceiling? I might even if its not, just because it might look cool...

It depends. If you're running Flatlander style then there's no need; the lights point down. If you want to grow vertically and place lights to the side of the plant then you definitely do want a reflective surface just above the tops of the plants. For a visual, look at the pics I posted of my vertical op in this thread.

Yikes it been too long. I have been out of town and my garden didn't get moved yet. My tomatoes are taking over the basement like some 80s horror film.

I have like 50 lbs of lettuce, and probably the same on my tomatoes.

Glad we are back!

i see we went dark again for a few days. glad we are back. I am getting ready to tackle my large scale basement grow. I have been traveling a lot, so i didn't really get a chance to start yet.

I have realized that I over thought and over built my grow areas out. Im going to try to and simplify things in this project.

also, anyone ever screw around with CO2? is it really worth doing? I thought about getting co2 generator. I figure even a modest increase may help. But im on the fence.

What's your idea of large scale? How well do you plan to seal the space? Answering those two questions will allow me to help you choose a good CO2 management system.

I personally believe CO2 is very helpful.

it will be a 14x16 room, It will be walled off with a door. so like 225 sf, 8 foot ceiling.

My tomatoes in my bato buckets w/ coco are massive. I have been gone all week. I have hundreds of tomatoes.

Send me some! Lol

I'd stick with tanks in there, just be sure it's nice n sealed up.

ok, I have really been lazy with my new grow area, new job, stuff going on, its an big ambitious project. whatever excuse works. I have gotten started, here is where i am so far.

I will run 4 different styles of lighting.

cobs and quantum boards.
8 bulb t5's with 4 power veg lights and 4 6500k HO
cheap leds (used for lettuce)
a 3x4 rigid strip bridgelux rig (10 total strips for about 450w)

I now have to run power, water, and plumbing. The worst part is going to be moving my entire lettuce platform.

I will slowly work on it all week. god willing ill have it done by Sunday.

Progress has been slow, but its getting there.

I will assume that 50 amps should do the job.

The light is 10 - 3500k bridgelux strips powered by 2 - 250 w 1050ma drivers
