germinate first?

i have some autoflowers i'm about to put out, should i germinate first? or just put directly into prepared soil outside?

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. In my opinion, germing is a waste of time and energy and also increases your chances of damaging the seed or tap root. Are you planning on planting all the seeds you have, or just a portion? I would put them straight into the prepared soil in a pot big enough to last the whole life cycle. Transplanting wont necessarily stunt autos, but sometimes it does and there is just no point in putting the plant in undue stress. Give it a week MAX...if they dont sprout they are junk. I have about a 3 day average for sprouting. The problems with germing are not worth it to me just to be able to keep track of the progress. Paper towels can dry out, they can get too hot or cold, they can get forgotten and mold, the tap root is easy to damage while transplanting...I would just rather not mess with it. All of this is IMHO though, so good luck with whatever you decide to do.

all good points...it's just what I prefer and I go with what works for me. I find that germinating a few hundred at a time helps sort out the bad ones as it shows a lot on the comparison side. So for me, it's less energy...and ya, never let that paper towel dry out! I've wasted many fields before they even seen the light of day.

I wouldn't bother germinating first. With autoflowers you have to maximise the time not being shocked by transplanting etc. Put the seed straight in the final [large] pot. Mist and cover with plastic bag for humidity. Simple
