Germinating for outdoor

Hello I hope everyone is having an awesome stoned day. I was wondering when is a good time to germinate seeds for outdoors I am in about the middle of michigan on the west side by lake Michigan. I do not have a room to veg them in until they go outside. I was thinking maybe start them April 15th than put them outside on mothers day. Does this seem like a good plan?

It’s a bit early to put them out. Two issues…frost and if they’re sexually mature enough by then, they might start to go into flower due to the daylight hours not being long enough. Best to wait until end of the month or early June after the frost is no longer a threat and there’s enough daylight to keep them in veg…although you should be ok if only starting germination April 15th as they typically take 5-6 weeks to reach sexual maturity which will put you into late May. Assuming you’re just sticking them on a window sill? A cheap grow light would be a good investment…don’t need a fancy setup to veg seedlings/small plants.

I'm probably somewhat near you on the west side of Michigan. I start vegging around middle to end of April and my ladies go out memorial weekend (May 25th).

Like Seawood said if you plan to start vegging in the next couple weeks a cheap grow light would be a good idea. Check out a sunrise/ sunset calendar (Google) and veg to that schedule. On May 25th for where I'm at the sunrise is 6:10am and the sunset is 9:10pm. That's exactly what I set my timer for when I start vegging mid April, so when my ladies go out they are not confused. Last two seasons this is what I've done no problems, the calendar is helpful to me at least.

Not sure what pot size your planning on for outdoor or you going in the ground? If pots, I'd recommend going with at least a 30 gallon if starting to veg mid April. Otherwise you'll be watering every day with a smaller sized pot. But at the same time 30 gal pots are hard to move around if needed, particularly near the end of the season if you trying to keep them out of the rain/ dew.

I would say like at 1-th of June or if you want to hold them indoors for some time and then transplant then you can do that in 2-3 weeks from today

I’m near Toronto and plan start my gals in hopefully 2-3 weeks in the tent, and out for Victoria Day weekend. (late May) Last year I started late at the beginning of May and had some of my biggest yields yet. Hoping to get some training in before hand for the plant and then movie outside. Probably start in 1G fabric bags and should last hopefully until transplanting them to their outdoor 20G Rubbermaid garbage containers. Harvesting, I strip everything right down to buds before freeze drying, and last year I was averaging roughly +1400g a plant, with one reaching 2400g (Blackberry Moonrock)

I live in New York typically start mine in the first part of June from seed to finish in late october. Usually our falls are warm enough to finish outdoors.
