Germinating in coco ,will the seeds survive in high ppm coco?

i planted my seeds straight into the 100% coco and made a huge mistake which may kill my young seeds in coco.,because i had forgot to check the PPM or EC of my coco. The result really shocked me. At 1000PPM,way too much salt in it! High quality coco`s EC ideally around 0.5mS/cm : this is a roughly number ---USA 1 ms/cm (EC 1.0 or CF 10) = 500 ppm
European 1 ms/cm (EC 1.0 or CF 10) = 640 ppm
Australian 1 ms/cm (EC 1.0 or CF 10) = 700 ppm
So, in another words my coco’s salt is about4 times than ususal!
So Will it affect the germinating process? im thinking to move it to my rockwool if it survive. Then waiting to my order (high quality coco)online arrives.IMG_1639.jpg

I've used coco with an EC of 3.0 to germ seeds before I actually tested its EC and rinsed it clean.

Currently using a 1.5EC coco.

Most coco will be treated to approx 1.0EC with buffering agents. The naturally occurring potassium and the preloaded Calcium nitrate and magnesium nitrate are generally what make up the rest.

In an ideal situation, what Jondoman said occurs...but in real life and with less then optimally prepared coco, there's still plenty of Na (sodium) that gets bumped out as you water. Toxic to seedlings. My vote would be to transplant to rockwool and let it grow...and while growing, you could rinse and buffer the coco yourself or wait till the better coco arrives.

yeah and just adding to that...
I'm pretty sure there are a lot of MJ growers that succesfully germinate in coco....I've tried to germ non-mj seeds in coco just in a general gardening and had mixed results at best (a lot less success)...

if it were me I'd just use the cubes as suggested or those brown spongy plug thingies (rapid rooters er sumthin?) and transplant into some decent pre-bagged stuff...(I'm hardly a coco expert myself)

BTW, pre-soaking seeds or germing in paper towels is internet perpetuated bullshit IMHO

Last night after talking to another coco coir seller online,he told me that coco should be rinsed by water a lot of times, and it did work! i brought my coco's ppm down to 460PPM using tap water(350ppm). i guess i dont have to throw it away.

Well good luck helloman...
In the future, it is totally possible to rinse and buffer your own cheap coco...or buy the good stuff. Hope your seedlings make it...
