Germinating?

I've been waching a few videos and read a few articles about germinating seeds, exept almost every one has a slowly different technique. Could anyone give me a few tips on there techniques that have worked well?
also is it best to use sterile destilled water or just regular tap water?

The best water you can use is reverse osmosis water with cal/mag supplement added (room temp). If you grow organic plant your seeds directly in soil be careful not to over-water or the seeds would die. The hydroponics dudes normally germinate their seeds in napkin

go buy a dome at lowes or home depot and make sure you use and buy seedling soil. put in dome put a small lamp over it and keep it wet will take about three days. than transplant into solo cups after a week wit the same type of seedling soil. if you have a heating pad put it under the dome.

Like most, all do is pop them in the hot water cupboard using toilet paper and a glad snaplock bag with a little bit of air inside which usually takes a day, then plant and keep in the dark. I keep it on a cold spot in the cupboard so it's not too hot not too cold. No additives or anything and it works just fine. Just make sure you get seedling soil. I usually grow from clones and ended up burning my new seedlings (my first grow from seed) by planting them in regular soil with time release nutrients. They'll grow faster in seedling soil because it is light.
