Germination in coco coir disks?

I am an absolute beginner on growing so i have no idea what im doing and scared that i will not be able to even germinate my seeds.
I planted yesterday one seed in a coco coir disk but i dont know what else to do. The seed hole in the coco is a little too wide, should i have covered it with some of the coco over the seed? Should i keep it in a dark room or put it in the sun, or warm place, etc

Any help will be much appreciated!

damp coco covering the seed seems to do the trick

you don`t need to 100% cover it as long as it stays damp it should pop

they need light around 1 to 6 days after they pop you can give them some low level light before that but its not needed

a cover or bag stops the coco drying out too fast before the seed pop`s most people like to reduce the time they have to spend watering

So i should cover it a bit?

It seems that the seed moved a little and a little bit of coco is now covering half of the seed. Is this normal for the seed germinating or could it have been accidental?

Also, how damp should the coco coir be? I have been watering just a tiny bit, as it seems relatively damp. But i dont want to water it too much or too little.
Sorry for all the questions, but im so new at this that im kind of paranoid! haha

you soak it before or when you put the seed in then you re-wet it when the top layer gets dry, good to feel the weight, you want it to go down to around 30% of the weight it gains when its wet before you re-wet it

but as long as your waste can drain away its hard to over water a coco-perlite mix, that being said when they are small best not to over water them, normally they`ll be ok for the 1st 4 to 12 days then they start to drink a bit as they grow, no need to cover them now, but a bag or some thing other them to trap some humidity can be good for the 1st days or weeks or a dome

Alright! And is it normal to last a few days until it germinates?

Yeah if its not really hot and you cover them with a dome or bag they go 4 to 8 days easy normally sometimes they go 20 days you should not have to water before the seeds pop, but sometimes you do, normally when its warm or if they take time to pop

I mean seeds can pop in a day or take over 2 weeks just depends

Thanks, was just worried that it was taking too long. But ill be patient and try to understand if its gonna be needing water or not :)

Its easy if you have a dry pellet still, then you know what it`ll weigh dry, weigh a wet one and somewhere in the middle is when it starts being suitable to re-wet

Wetting agent really helps with soaking dry coco and re-wetting it, a lot of good feeds have a wetter in them but I normally add some of my own just to be sure, like a bit of a foam in my feed
