Germination = mushy tail?

I am having issues with a new batch of seeds. I have only been able to get about about 1/3 to sprout without a problem. Most of the others showed a small amount of sprout sticking out but the tail would be offwhite and would be complete mush, not healthy looking at all. I tried germinating in a glass of distilled water in a dark place and also the same result in damp paper towels put inside of a ziplock freezer bag.

Any thoughts? Why is this happening?

try the paper towels in two plates.it could just be a bad batch of seeds.good luck

yeah, sounds like too much water. they will rot.
