im confused...your having germ problems but growing a field of herb?? lol.....well anyway i wouldnt let the root get that long before you plant it...soon as it pops it should go in...also if the first pic is of a plant sticking out of that cube then thats no good...from what i see you have something resembling a bean sprout growing and when that happens its caused by one of these, first one most common.. you let the root grow to a couple inches and then planted part of your "plant" above ground already, if you notice that you germed a plant too long and its grown a couple inches do not plant the head above ground. instead plant it just below like a quarter of an inch and let it break through on its own.. OR your light is way too far away, idk what kind of light your using but if its flourescent then it can be literally just a few inches off the plant and the closer it is kept through the beginning stages the closer your nodes will be...
