Germination Question

Is it possible to over germinate seeds? I accidentally forgot about some in a paper towel they have been there for about a week now and the root bit is now over an inch long and quite thick. Will this damage the plant in any way or is it a good thing ?

you should be alright, just get them planted into a medium right away. if your using the paper towel method, when the root gets that long it will sometimes grow into the paper towel. dont try to pull it out, it will break. i just kind of gently cut or rip the paper towel around the root so that you get both the root and paper towel then plant it.

plant 95% under ground leaving only the yellow leaves out of dirt, make sure tap root is in the downwards position and bury it.

Yeah, you will be OK.

I have done it before.

pffft !!

I dont know where to start with all the possible problems. Using paper towel is one of the worst methods. Not only is paper towel not sterilized, touching the tap root is not advised. This method use jiffy cloth and tweezers, but jiffy pellets or rock wool is the best.
If you planted them outside, theyre dead

you should get a little more info on his situation before a statement like that !
