Germination Question ?

Whats up eveerybody,

So I started germinating 5 seeds last night and 3 of them now have roots popping out and the other two are split open a little bit. I am doing an indoor grow in my closet with two 48" double fluorescents ( 4 bulbs ) each bulb at 40 watts and two 23 watt CFL's and will be adding more light once plant starts growing a little. But any way, my question is once I have buried the seed in the soil do I need to turn the lights on before it breaks the soil or do I just wait till it breaks the surface and then give it light.

Can I keep them in the closet with no light( pitch dark ) until they pop up through the surface?

Should I place them in the soil as soon as the seeds root is showing or should I let them get a little longer before planting it in the soil?

Appreciate all comments and help

Peace

place in the soil once the root shows.. the seeds only store enough food for a few days.. they will need light to direct them upwards as without it they wont know where to go..

So your saying that I do need to have light on them before they surface throught the soil?

So I should go get the ones with roots showing put them in soil and under the lights?

Thanks for the help!

ktown, where have you been and glad to see you growing

keep the fluors about 10" above the seedlings for the first couple days then you can lower, like hempie said they wont need much light to get going

what spectrum bulbs are you using and the fixture is it t12 or t8s

good luck and did you see my grow is almost ready........piece

Hey what's up BIGMIKE, Yeah I haven't been on here for a while been real busy for the last couple weeks but I been popping in checking on things every once in a while. Yeah, one of the things I checked on was your grow your plants are looking REALLY nice, I'm bout to go finish catching up on your grow right now. And as you see I finally decided to give growing a little go so I went and bought some supplies and built a little room in my closet. I'm using 4 48" 6500k t12's and 2 26w 6500k CFL's and will switch to 2700k when ready.

When I was at the store I was wondering which was better T8 or T12's?

Good to talk to ya again man
