i havnt checked on my plants in about 3 weeks i hope a bird mouse or giant deer or bear or mountain lion or yetti or river otter diddnt kill them

Nothing you can do but hope, I personally think that too many visits to the patch attracts too much attention,I try to limit myself to about once a month through the summer, more as harvest approaches, I take precautions against predators but in the end it's just luck. I try to have enough patches that if I lose one, I'm still alright.

I agree with Jimmy ...... Its a crap shoot .. the more you plant the better your odd's at winning
