ok since i waited until i was screwed for time, im gunna try and upgrade the lotus cure setup im using to be automated
Fridge | Any sealed 5–6 cu ft unit (used) | $100–200 |
Fan system | 2x low-RPM USB fans | $15–20 |
RH sensors | Govee / Inkbird / DHT22 combo | $30–60 |
Temp sensors | DS18B20 or Govee BLE loggers | $10–20 |
Microcontroller | ESP32 / Pi Zero | $15–35 |
Control interface | Node-RED / MQTT / Mobile script | Free |
RH buffer system | DIY purge tank + copper + sponge | $15–25 |
Humidifier (opt.) | Ultrasonic + relay/timer control | $30–50 |
Dehumidifier (opt.) | Peltier unit or desiccant pouch | $25–50 |
Grove Bags | 1–3 test bags | $10–20 |
im building it myself with some of chatgpt's input, the goal is to be able to regulate the water the fridge naturally pulls to the back and drains out the bottom of the fridge, since the fridge doesn't need to water on the compressor to cool it won't notice it being rerouted else where. so the hole that removes the water will get a controllable valve, once i dial this in i won't need the dehum and the humidifier, those are just safe guards and more controllable than leaving a sponge in the fridge or cotton like i did last time.
I already own most of this list i just posted for reference, im going to try and take good pictures of this process so i can track failures.
I deep dove the last few days on VPD (vapor pressure deficit) and the guy who made the cannatrol, i believe his information on the matter is good however 1600+ for a fridge with a few mods is crazy imo. however in his videos unless hes misleading he gives what he believes the optimal VPD for curing weed is, which more or less is (RH (math) Temp)

Random image from the internet on this subject, but as you can see 50% RH is relative to the temp while the VPD changes, i wouldn't use this chart for curing as it doesn't go low enough temp, but its just for reference.
