Getting Mary Drunk!!!

I have been fooling around with a way to stunt plant growth but not maturity. Perfect for PC growboxes or very confined areas. I get my plants drunk, thats right i give my underage girls diluted doses of alcohol to stunt height but they seem to remain on track as far as flowering. First things first, dont use wine or beer they contain way to much sugar and are ineffective. So far the best is a filtered liquor such as; vodka and dry gin. Next anything over 4-6% after dilution is poison to her. Again, main rule of thumb little is more. So I take an ounce of 45% liquor and add 10.5 ounces of distilled water roughly you have a 4% alcohol solution.
Go to this link if you need to calculate a different amount. http://homedistiller.org/dilute.htm
Ok I only add this once a week for 3 weeks at the beginning of veg so basically every 3rd watering with no nutes. I will be topping this next batch of plants to see if there are any negative effects on new growth during alcohol feeding, but that will be at least 2 weeks away my seedling is only 5 days young. I do have an indica strain I experimented with that just started her 3rd week in flowering and she is amazing to be only 8" tall from soil up pic was taken a week ago will update tonite. Has anyone else attempted or perfected this technique? I would love to hear what everybody thinks good or bad!:fire:
Any professional tips also welcome

are you running a control that receives no alcohol?

I was both ended up being males and before they were deported from the growbox they were 6-9 inches taller than her. They all started the same time in the same environment. I will have a more controlled experiment with the next batch seeing how I have all female seeds well 90% chance of being female.

I think you should try this with clones off your current plant...that way you can make sure they are the same phenotype

Docgreen420, The only thing that you are doing is stressing the hell out of the plant bro.
LST or TOP YOUR PLANTS !!
But feeding them alcohol.. Thats down right rediculous.
unless it is used for preventative measures, diseases or root rot, which Peroxide works alot better for these preventative measures than alcohol does.

You need to be posting this question in the "this is going to be fun....what is the dumbest thing you have ever heard on here" thread.

When i first read this thread this was the first thing i thought of. But if he wants to run an actually experiment and not just question I think he's fine

Clones from the plant pictured or the new seedlings. I could wait to introduce alcohol till after I top and use that clone.
That's up to you, its your experiment

thanks for the support I'm not just trying to destroy this beautiful plant I care too much about them, I'm sure when the first person decided to use lst people thought it was barbaric but it's now the most popular method on the net.

Poor girl, your abusing her!! I'm sorry but your experiment is completely absurd, and is basically the most illogical way to keep your plant "small". There are several other simpler MUCH SAFER methods. You can top it, or you can also tie it down (LST) as it grows and it will turn into a bush, not a wimpy little 2-bowl bud. I doubt you get much off that thing, and I bet it hermies on you because of all the stress. But hey, since you forced it to herm, that means the seeds will be feminized! That's IF it can even produce anything, cuz youre pretty much killin it.

Thanks for your input but it's an experiment I'm not trying to change anyones mind on how to grow I'm just trying something taboo. I have read many articles on this technique from universities. You never know it might be the next biggest method or flop either way it's my loss.

Ok I didn't just wake up one morning and decide "Hey lil plant want a gin on the rocks" LOL Not even close I actually stumbled on an article talking about where a chemical plant had actually been dumping a raw ethanol based alcohol into a lake or pond close by. The plants and wild flowers surrounding this drainage system looked dwarfed compared to plants 50 feet away. So the soil was tested and showed low content of alcohol so gears start turning I read even further where a university is now testing this theory on certain flowers. There test results showed only height was effected not quality of the fruit or flower. Have you tried it and failed? Do you know someone that has? Do you have actual proof that this is the most illogical method? If you answered NO to all of these questions sit back and chill, you shouldnt have anything negative to say. Im here in peace, just wanting to step out of the box and expand my mind. Oh yes she is wimpy, but this was the first trial and I had some complications(not related to alcohol) early in vegging. My fans went out and I was away for 3 days and when I came back the box was 98*F and she was nearly gone, so she looks pretty good compared to 6 weeks ago. I dont wish for a hermie but if I get one I will benefit from it. "Life gives you lemons, use them to bring your pH down" sorry I know that was lame but Im like a kite right now.

let's see the articles

I totally agree with the statement regarding someone in the past "experimenting" with LST and TOPPING as well as FIMing and I'm sure they encountered a few "newbie know it alls" as you are here but the best part of doing science of any kind is overcoming the negatives and bringing on a new result that noone has attempted previously. I encourage any new techniques and I would love to see how this turns out. I don't plan to grow dwarf plants personally but I am intrigued to see how this turns out for you. Subbed and +Rep there mate. Good luck with everything.

I would love to see how your "Alco pot" experiment goes. Its kind of hard to do it without a control subject though. It it would be a lot cheaper buying a bottle of "Bonzai Bud™" for $15 which will treat numerous plants over several cycles but whatever floats your boat. GL

That is what I call constructive criticism I thank you immensely I am new to gardening but not science and the ability to question everything and I will keep this going no matter the audience. Again thank you.

Hey man I am a very open person and will speak my mind so weather I like it or not you will know it haha. A gift and a curse... I am a bit of a scientist myself and the thing I always say is "the more you know the more you grow" I also say "what is it? How does it work? How can I make it better?" and I experiment with ever possible angle I can think of and record results and remember it for the future. I make a lot of complex allegations when it comes to complex subjects including botany and anything that refers to weed ;) Science was my strong point as was math in school so those are huge parts of who I am and what I do now :D

Ok I have worked up a schedule I will follow this time around I have 3 test subjects that will be topped using UB's tech. Let me state the only reason I am topping is to create an exact control that will receive nothing but normal nutes and water.
Once both the mother and clone have recovered from topping I will introduce 4% alcohol (Barton's Vodka) very cheap but filtered. I plan on feeding these plants every third watering rotating in this manner Nutes, distilled water, then booze and so on. I will continue this routine until maturity shows and at that time I will take them off the bottle maybe flush the medium depending on soil samples. I will feed normal nutes and water for 1 week then will start flowering. I chose this indica hybrid strain because ive seen past grows from it and it budded quick after being introduced to 12/12. I will then determine how well it works and if its worth the $6 bottle of liquor. Just a summary of the plan Im sure it will change in the future.
