Getting the Magic Beans

Hi All,

I just joined this site and have to say all the great info, tips and collective knowledge on here is amazing! Thanks to all you experienced vets for sharing your wisdom and helping rookies like me avoid so many possible pitfalls.

So, down business. I've been medicating for nearly 15 years and I feel that taking the middle man out of the process is long overdue. I live in the US, so acquiring bud can be a fairly risky and uncertain exchange. The inability to be certain of what I'm buying, and the processes and chemicals used to produce it, has always concerned me. However, my greatest concern these days is the need to deal with "questionable retailers" whose behavior and discretion I can never be certain of. As so many of you have made clear, the answer is to develop a green thumb! I know there's a lot to learn, but my biggest questions for now are about getting seeds.

My plan is to order seeds online, and this is where I need a little advice. I've done quite a bit of research and have narrowed it down to ordering the seeds from Attitude or Gorilla. My questions are:
- Which of these two do you guys prefer? Ease of payment and discrete shipping are high priorities.
- I'd like to use moneygram online. Anyone use this payment method? How'd it work?
- I'm interested in having them shipped to a P.O. Box. Is this an option?
- I'd like to grow 2 plants in a 3' x 3' x 6' tent. Any recommendations of seed strains that are good for rookies with a small gro area?
- What turnaround time should I expect (from moneygram order to receipt of shipment). How long should I wait before I start to worry.

I'm sure 'll have other questions, but that what comes to mind for now. Thanks in advance for your help!

From your desired banks, I would try attitude . Guys in the us have had plenty of success, and I hear they accept credit cards now (the only way I'd buy)

I got 3 orders from them , no problem.

They have a hell of lot of strains. I always had 100% germ.
They also carry G13 and Dinafem seeds !

I got my seeds from the Attitude some time ago, but it took them three tries to actually make them through. Thats three seizures at customs, kind of worried me. I hear good things about Herbies, but I haven't ordered from them. Gorilla is a new one to me.

So far I have only used credit/debit card. You can also use international prepaid cards as well. Most sites also allow for money to be sent directly, although I was always too concerned about being jacked to go that route. Bitcoin is also an option on some sites now.

I would avoid shipping to a P.O. box unless you somehow have a way to get one not connected to you. If at all possible, ship to someone elses place that is willing to accept your mail. I couldnt find anyone so I ended up using my home address, havent had any problems. Scared the shit out of me when I got the seized package all taped up in green though, so try really hard to find someone that is willing to get some mail for you. Maybe a friend who wants to make a few bucks and doesnt ask many questions

Your tents not very big, but it should do fine for two plants I think so long as you train them right. Strains important, but so is what you are using the plant for. Pain relief? Sleep problems? Get you a good Indica. I dont have a lot of personal experience on this one seeing how the only Indica I have taken to harvest so far has been a Blueberry plant, so hopefully some others have good suggestions on this note.

Delivery time can take a bit, but I hear Herbies beats Attitude out. It took me about 7-10 days with Attitude if I remember right.

Only seed bank i use is the Vault, its the only one i need, I ordered from Gorilla once and never got my beans, they wouldnt email me back either (about 5 emails)

Thanks for the reply Moon! I'll take another look at Attitude, I see their name in forums quite a bit. Haven't seen much about Herbie, but I'll check them out as well. Have you ordered from Herbie recently? I plan on ordering a half dozen seeds this week, so knowing you had a recent good experience would help put me at ease.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check out Single Seed. Are you in the US? What type of turnaround time did they have (from order to package arriving?)

Yes, I've had two successful deliveries. Both since the new year. %100 germination. 12 day delivery to the us.

Rentaldog, thanks soooo much for your message! This is super helpful. I've seen quite a few posts about packages from Attitude being seized. That worried me a little. That said, it almost seems like getting your order derailed somewhere along the way is an inconvenient, but not uncommon part of the process. Would you agree with that? Just trying to get my expectations in line.

Based on cruising various forums it seems that Gorilla isn't new, but is gaining in popularity. That said, they don't accept credit cards, which brings me to one of my initial concerns. I'm hesitant to use a credit card for the same reason you didn't want to use your home address - a little too "personal". That's also why I inquired about the P.O. Box. Thanks for your suggestion on where to ship the package - I can think of a few friends who owe me a favor or two. Besides, as far as they know the package could be a surprise gift for my wife

Lastly, I have adult ADHD. I HATE taking pills that make me fell like a zombie. Back in the late 90's I figured out I respond to this "natural medication" MUCH better than the doc's drugs and haven't looked back. Unfortunately, there are a lot places in the US that haven't gotten the memo. I'll let you guess if I'm one of them. That said, I'd be interested in any recommended strains that have a calm, quieting effect without dulling your thoughts and putting you to sleep, if that makes sense. I typically use pretty small doses so it doesn't have to be a strain with mind-blowingly high THC content.

Thanks Moon. I've been checking forums for Herbie and it seems they are a crowd pleaser. Knowing you've deal with them this year is a MAJOR plus. If you don't mind my asking, did you use a credit card? I'd love to use a card because it would be the quickest and most straight forward method, but I'm kinda hesitant to have my card tied to this purchase. If you haven't had any issues using a card, then I think it's time for me to take the plunge.

Herbies will not show up on your statement at any time. even if you don't opt for the stealth shipping! (Which they are very creative with)

Herbies is ligit.. My last order took 8 days to east coast US..

I ordered from choice seed bank which is an attitude sister site and got mine in 12 days east coast us. And they have green crack, also I wouldnt grow 2 in a 3x3, I got 2 in a 6x8 and im too full, but im hydro and lst my 2 girls. To each their own

I would hope getting an order lost along the way wouldn't be accepted as the norm, but judging from my experience with the Attitude and from other posts I have seen online it might be. I dont know if its just coincidence, or more traffic for Attitude, but it seems that customs is good at picking them out. Thats just my opinion though, since I only have what I read online to go off. Overall I dont think I would worry if you got siezed, just be sure to pay for the stealth. Usually if you pay for stealth, the companies will reship for free. This is usually written down somewhere in their FAQ, or the shipping section. If you cant find it, shoot the company an email with your particular situation and im sure they will let you know what they offer.

Credit cards are definitely personal, but after reading a whole lot I went ahead and used my banks debit card for my order with the Attitude. The charge showed up as "Attitude" on my statement, and aside from a lock on my account for not notifying my bank I was going to make an international purchase, nothing happened. I called up the bank, explained I was purchasing some clothes from the UK for a present, and all was well. If you're super scared though, you may be able to find a way to get access to a preloaded gift card thats enabled for international use. Might be hard considering stores use your personal information to tie the card to you, but there may be other ways of getting it done. That is unfortunately something I didnt read into too much once my seeds came through.

P.O. Boxes are the same as a home address in this situation it seems. You have to provide ID when you get a PO box, so really its no different from using your home address. Unless you know how to get a P.O. Box without using your real ID anyhow. That would just bring attention to you though, so probably not a good idea. If you have friends, by all means go that route! I would tell my friends though, that way if for some crazy reason cops showed up at their door they could deny the package and just say it must be a wrong address.

My order was a while ago, probably around a year.

Strain-wise, I don't have any real recommendations for you seeing as I haven't had any acquaintances with ADHD. If you dont want to knock out when you smoke I would assume a Sativa would be what you are looking for. Strawberry Cough is pretty sweet, just a real fog behind the eyes and a high that doesnt really make me sleepy. Just calms me and makes things funny. Yeah. Sunny Cali ... After ship confirmation , I usually get between 10-15 days.
Unless 5-0 gets my shit .... Haha

Even then they will reship ( even to alternate address )

Man, I can't thank you guys enough for all the helpful info and tips! I guess everyone goes through brief spell of paranoia before making their first bean order. That said, you guys gave me the insight I needed to take that first step.

I ended up going with Herbie's. I used a credit card and everything went super smooth. Now it's time to play the waiting game. I'll be sure to let you guys know when / if the package arrives and if the order is correct. I guess that will be my last post on this thread because by then it will be time to get growin!

The paranoia gets worse when you actually start growing... I used to have nightmares about people stealing my shit...now I don't really give a fuck..

I am East Coast USA and I always use herbies.....7 days from order to mailbox, always very discrete and never a problem Good Luck

Just a quick update on my first bean order. Unfortunately I'm closing in on a full month and no beans have arrived yet. I must say, this being my first order and all, it has kinda dampened my mood. The beans are fairly cheap, so that's not a huge deal. But I've already invested real $$$'s in the rest of my set-up. I have a brand new tent, a sweet light set-up, timers, fans, nutrients, etc., all waiting and ready to go. I'm trying to "keep it zen" and I'm typically a pretty patient guy. I already grow tomatoes and carrots and bell peppers and other stuff in my backyard so I know a little something about delayed gratification. But of course, the sooner you plant the sooner you get to harvest. Also, knowing I've got a sweet set-up ready to rock makes the wait for the beans that much harder.

Just so you guys know, I placed my order on Apr. 14. At this point I'm thinking I was one of the unlucky ones that got nabbed by the Men In Black. I'll contact herbie tomorrow to see what to do now. And of course, I'll keep you guys posted.
