I could see 5’ coverage working lengthwise, but there would be some definite falloff on the ends. One of these covers the 2x4 about perfectly at ~15” above the canopy, to my eyes anyway.
Keep in mind he recommends 18-24" away. The light is intense enough but the further it is away, the better coverage you get. I keep mine 18" away during flower, and during veg I keep it about 30-36" away

GSC’s website says okay 12-18” above and LED Growlight Depot says 15-18”. Because of varying stretch, my shortest plant is 18” and my tallest is 12”.

Yeah I had it at 12" on my first run and it bleached my top colas, also foxtailed them. The light is super intense so I keep them a little further away to avoid that, and still get the same great outcome

I haven't seen any signs of bleaching, but GS#2 has shown some signs of starting to potentially foxtail. I wasn't quite sure though as the bud structure on that one seems to stack from other grow pics I've seen. On average that one has been about 15" below the light. I haven't seen any potential light caused issues in any of the other plants, at least not to my long out of practice eye. Perhaps you or someone else sees different? Here's where they all are at day 51 of flower. I couldn't quite get a good shot of LOGH#2, but essentially all of the shoots in the front and stretched ones in the back are LOGH#2. GS#2 is coming down Saturday morning. GS#1 won't be long after. Both of the LOGH's are about 50/50 clear/milky trichomes and will likely be the following weekend.

I'm also trying to decide what to grow next. Just got in a selection of Ethos seeds. Right now I've narrowed it down to Hashplant, Forbidden Zkitllez, or Hulk Angry. Any thoughts, suggestions, or requests anyone???

They all look pretty damn good my man. You should be in good shape if you see no bleaching yet. Not sure on suggestion for next grow but my buddy have me some rainbow zkittlez beans that I might try on next run. Good luck on the home stretch of your girls.

Just a quick update, GS#2 came down tonight. She was about 30% amber and I had a long day at work, so I decided to spend time relaxing with some trimming therapy...lol

Getting some color in the tent now. GS#1 and LOGH#2 both are getting some purple coming in. A big surprise though in checking the trichs is that LOGH#2 is now ~10% amber! It's crazy how quickly the color and trichs have changed in just a few days. Never seen this quick of a change before or maybe I just wasn't checking as close as I should have? I had expected this one to go for a while longer, but it may end up coming down in the next day or 2 with GS#1. LOGH#1 is about 2/3rds milky, with no amber in sight.

The color has really kicked in on GS#1! That one and LOGH#2 will be coming down in the morning. Also, GS#2 went into the jar tonight for curing. Final dry weight? 81 grams! For 300w of light in an overcrowded 2x4 tent and no special training, I'm a happy camper :) The other 3 won't be as big of a yield, but my goal was 6 ounces and should have not problems hitting that.

Yes very different from years ago. Especially when buying seeds!!! So nice not to have to send cash to Canada or Europe and wait for weeks hoping not to get a customs letter...lol

Yields

Everything is in jars now for curing and the yields are in:

Grandpa's Stash #1: 75g
Grandpa's Stash #2: 81g
Lemon OG Haze R2 Bx2 #1: 61g
Lemon OG Haze R2 Bx2 #2: 75g

TOTAL: 292g / 10.3oz

I'm VERY happy with how things turned out. For my first grow since the early 2000's, first time with an LED, and with no special training/trimming/etc I have zero complaints. Here's a pic of all four yields in 14" saucers. They are now all in 32oz amber Ball jars with 62% Boveda packets. I also wound up with quite a bit of frosty trim which I'll put through the bubble bags in the next few weeks.

Smoke Report

The only one I have really so far is the GS#2. The taste is a mix of sage and blueberry. It's definitely indica dom, but not full on couch lock. It's that perfect end of the day and need to unwind smoke. Sort of like having a good scotch, your shoulders drop right down and you get a nice, warm glow, but you can still pay attention and have a conversation. It's also been a great post workout smoke and gets rid of the aches and pains. One other thing of note is that I pretty much never dream, but the past few nights of smoking this one I have had the most fucked up vivid dreams...lol

I will post reports on the others after they have had a little more time jars.

Solid grow and thanks for taking the time to post TheTrailGuy, really helpful for a beginner like me to have something to compare to!

I just finished my first grow ever in a 2.5x5x6.5 (5 plants, manifolded) and pulled 246g dry weight with the ES300. Got some new harvest goals thanks to your journal :leaf:

Curious to know if you'll be shooting for 100g a plant for your next run or using more advanced training techniques for a larger yield?

Hello just starting out to grow in canada, I was just wondering where you got these seeds from? They are such gorgeous plants!!! Nice work :)!

Guess I’ve neglected this thread a little... doh Sorry for the delay in responding.

doogledore, I’m not shooting for any yield that high. Not even sure it would be possible as 400g would be A LOT from this light or a 2x4. Not saying impossible but certainly well beyond my current abilities. We don’t need that much anyway. Depending on the month and strain(s) we only go through about 1.5oz a month.

Goldy707 both strains are from Ethos and should be readily available from a number of seed vendors. I got mine from Maine Clone Company. Great service and highly (pun intended) recommended

Yearly bump. How are you liking the ES 300? Just wrapped up my first grow in a decade with their V2.
Bagseed while waiting on seedsman post. Resulted in 128g. Really impressed with the unit!
Just started up 2 autos few days back. Might throw up a grow journal. Hope your grows continue to be bountiful!
