heyy everyone :weed: i just switched my 2 plants to 12/12 tonight, so i had to make a vegg box for my 7 day old seedling, i used a rubermaid tub 4 23watt 5600k cfls and a 6 inch desk fan. i figured since i already hav the box i might as well take some clones befor they start to flower. im wondering if this ghetto way i set it up will work.. i just taped plastic above the clones. thanks for any input or advice =) thanks everyone! bongsmilie

You dont need all the lights until the clones actually root. I think that much might be harmful until they have roots. I just use 1 26 watt CFl about a foot over my clones and they like it.

Im not sure how effective the plastic wrap is gonna be the way youre using it.
You could use a baggie over each cup keeping the baggie in place w/ an elastic. Make sure you have some holes in the cover whatever you do, air needs to get to the plants.

IMO you should leave that fan off, will suck the humidity out of your dome, but see what others say?

the bottom of the tub is about 3-4 inches off the ground and the plastic doesnt come all the way to the floor so they get constant air, and i figured i needed that much light because i have the seedling, its super silver haze and im not goona deprive it at all to have the clones ya kno. but i guess it could b to much light... and when i turn the fan off its get probly 100 + wouldnt that kill em all??

I keep my clones in the same cabinet I veg in, I just keep the clones from being under too much light. i also run a fan in there, i have my fan on a 30 minute on/off schedule. Keeps my temps between 68-75 degrees.

i now have em under induvidual baggies, held with rubberbands. it looks like itll work alot better. and im not sure the temps in the box yet. my guess is around 70-85ish. with the baggies over em should i still mist em 3 or 4 times a day?? and will 24/0 work?? im using my timer for the flowering plants, i will turn em on and off manually if i have to tho

Stay ghetto, but get a humidome....the tall 7" one..... also the little jiffy pucks to start the clones in work better than rockwool, there are some organic ones too that are pretty cheap. ink was right the less light the better, your main goal is the root zone, not the canopy. if you get the tall humidome you wont have to mist them, i cloned 6 with 100% success in 7 days...roots were hangin out like hair. my old cloning technique was yeilding about 60% success, a heat mat really helps, as does the tall dome.
Soak your pucks in B-1 ($3.00 at OSH) when you cut your clones dip them in B-1 for half hour, then into your pucks, then into your dome.

Also the one thing that helped out the most with my cloning was a seedling starter heat mat, keep those feet warm and the roots will shoot right out of the pucks. My starts are in small party cups right now (pre-veg) working on the root mass. another 20 days or so and they are going into 1 gals and bloom.

yes on the seed mat and a cheap dome as tall as possible, my clones are in the veg also and i too keep them away from the lights, i liked the baggy dome though, thats half the fun of growing is the experimentation and good old ingenuity

i would pull them away from the lights but i am starting 12/12 today on my 2 older plants, there in the same closet.. so i have to keep all the light trapped to not mess with the budding plants ya kno. now i only have 3 23 watt cfls, i would go with just 1 but i dont wanna deprive the seedling because its a better strain then the clones

and yea pretty much most the stuff i do in kinda unconventional, idk if its lack of common sence or something good... haha i hope the plastic bags work, they fit perfectly over the plants and pots, and all 3 of them are gettin real perky in just the few hours theyve been in em, so idk they might b working lol
