1.8 EC is pretty high this early in their life. I might dial that back a bit. What kind of setup are you going to be using for your final product (it appears hydro of some kind)?

thx for reply .........
i'm on 1.4 now, growing on rockwool but my question is this :

    • On the bottle it says to mix 50ml of each A+B into 10liter of water, then check with an EC meter that the mix is at 1.8 Now at the growshop the guys told me that i have to adjust that actually with the EC (here 0.35) that the water has without the HY-PRO. In other terms if my mix is 1.8 - it ACTUALLY is at 1.45 as 0.35 counts for the water...?

If u are measuring the mix and the water that should be accounting for everything. U would only need to add the water EC if u were not actually measuring and going by what the manufacturers say that the EC of the product is. That is if I understand u correctly and my answer makes sense.

well uhhhh... hihihi i try again... on the product it says to mix it with water 50ml in 10liter and then check the EC that should be at 1.8. if more add some plain water a.s.o....
now in the shop they say that the plain water (before adding the nutrient) has already an Ec value ( I checked it - plain water here is at 0.35). they say that this value has to be added to the value i want to obtain. F..k... i'm really confused about this... So as an example, following what the shopguy says : I want an EC of 1.8 - i add nutrient until the meter reads 2.15... as 0.35 accounts for the plain water value. That sounds like bullshit to me, trusting more in the info on the product, but I'm a beginner in this so...
thank you for your help R152, I appreciate it

Looks like your doing great so far, feeding is generally made out to be more complicated than it usually is...

I don't go by EC, PPM, hell I've never even PH'd any water, or any of that crap XD

usually I read the bottle and start off for the first few weeks with nutes at half strength so I'd put 25ml of each A+B in 10l of water and slowly build it up until the plants are more established and can deal with full strength. The good thing (and the bad thing) about Hydro is problems show up quite quickly so you know when something needs fixing, if the plants start to get nute burn just step back on the strength.

not sure if that's particularly relevant to you but I thought I'd throw in my 2 pence XD

Is there any chance you could post up a few pics of your whole setup? that would be great!

Good Luck!

...

And there are pics, just not many, pay attention :|

thx... you are right. i shouldn't take that serious. the guys in the shops build up real paranoia in me doing something wrong.. i'll do what you say : go with my guts-feeling. thx so much to all of you for your support. about the pics i'll wait a while. when the kiddies are grown up to fit in a bong, i'll might get in mood for that, hehehe

Yes this is correct. You add the EC of your water into the total because you need to go above and beyond to get it right. If you went straight to 1.8 and no higher then your nutes are actually low because you didnt add for the starting EC of the water.

And in regards to your fan if it is loud it can certainly raise suspicion. My little fan is only a 50 CFM bathroom fan mounted in my attic but you can totally hear it in my daughters bedroom which is next to the grow. If I was in an apartment with a fan even slightly louder Id work on getting it silenced. The best way to silence a fan is to hang it suspended in the air with bungee cords or something. Once you mount them to a wall or ceiling that vibration can resonate quite far. Good luck.

aha... so now i want to feed them about 1.3 -1.4 as they are still only youngsters.... i have an initial 0.35 for the plain water... i do my mix until it's at 1.65 to have it right? that scares me but it is what the guy in the shop says.. ufff so many different opinions on that question:wall:

Well the idea most people follow with a "proper" grow is to use RO or some filtered water that has no EC at all. (I use the term PPM over EC) My tap water only has about 115ppm which ideally would be zero but its close enough. So if I wanted to run 1500 nutes Id raise it to 1615 techincally. But yeah you have the concept down.

yeah thats what i did, i suspended it with rubber. it isn't that loud actually as i isolated the whole room with 80mm glassfiberwool under the plastic lining, even the floor... just at night i worry a bit, as i'm still on the 18/6 cycle... can't wait to go to 12/!2 from 8AM TO 8PM with the music on.. shouldn't be a problem anymore...

Now I've got it... well i let my tap water stand for 48 hours to vent off clorine and so on, but it still stays at 0.35, must be some shit in it, what ever it is... if ever give them too much nut can i save the crop by watering it down on the next feed or something like that ? (like rinse the rockwool by using plain water..?)

The flush for nutrient burn (using too much) should be considered a last resort. Nutrient burn to the point of needing to flush will pretty much stunt your crop for up to 2 weeks. You would definitely benefit from under using the nutrients and increasing them little by little as it looks like your babies need. Getting nute burn can stall your plant enough to negate any benefit using nutrients at all could have caused.
