i water it once every 1-2 days if the soil is starting to loose dampness every day if its fine every other day

for lighting im useing a strobe light with the safety cover off and it gets hot as fuck

You are using an incandescent strobe as your sole light source?
I'm not sure you are going to get the results you are hoping for with that type of lighting. Given the size of your box I would suggest picking up a couple CFL's - Better light & virtually no heat.
That's what I'd do.

I don't believe that light will work, if nothing else get a clf and and a clip light with the little round hood and use it. You can get them almost any home or hard ware centers and they do not cost much....
Have to have more and the right type of light.
