most calmag has nitrogen along with it. I use RO water, and dont worry about calmag on a seedling for quite a while. But if you did add it, I would let the amount of nitrogen you're possibly adding be your guide.

My CalMag has Nitrogen in it and I accidentally picked up the wrong container of Ph-ed water I was using one day and managed to fry some new seedlings that had just got their first set of actual leaves. I try not to add anything except Ph down to my well water until my plants are on their third set of leaves. I use Happy Frog soil which I add worm casting to, I get big bags of worm castings cheap ($3.00 for a 30 pound bag) from a commercial worm bait business down the road from my house.

I've grown from seed to harvest with water right from my well with few problems with a Ph close to 7 but now add 1ml of Ph Down per gallon which gives me a Ph of 6. But I don't always even lower the Ph every time I water without nutes. If I am adding CalMag or Fox Farms trio I check my Ph. But I add nothing to the water until my plants are well established as the Fox Farms soil and worm castings is all they need for the first 3 or 4 weeks.

Seedlings?
Or cuttings?
Seedlings have colyton leaves. The very first ones you see. Theyre round. Those have a purpose, which is to supply the seedling with nutrients. They have everything the seedling needs, regardless of whether or not you use RO water. Once they turn brown they have been sucked dry and it is time to start feeding the seedlngs nutes.

Cuttings... theyre mature and need food right after they root up.

Depending on your medium. If you're using coco or rockwool, yes. If you're using amended soil or potting soil (organic or not) there's going to be nutrients in it already, and you shouldn't need to feed it for a while.

True, but the OP said promix, which is inert.

I just re-read the thread and he doesn't mention what his medium is. And there are several different kinds of promix, a couple of which are inert, but the flowering plant potting soil is heavy on the nutrients (possibly enough to burn weed), and the herb & vegetable potting mix which I use has enough nutrients to feed an indica for more than a month (there seems to be enough nitrogen in it for sativas to react badly).

I start using Cal-Mag in the first week as I have had cal-mag def as early as 2 weeks as my water source has basically zero cal or mag

I grow hempy style in perlite/vermiculite and wil start with a small amount of cal-mag in the first week then increase as it progresses.

Once established, I use 1 mg of Cal-Mag per litre of water/feed (4 mg per US gallon / 4 litres)
