Gnats or Fruit Flies, how to get rid of them? Medium = Dirt

Neem oil will kill them? I mix it in the water to attack the larvae attached to the roots? Because I am not worried about the actual flies, they are all already hunted down and killed. All of them.
Nice to know the problem, yeah I tried to double water them last time you are dead on. I wanted to see if I was underwatering, which no I am not obviously. From what I read the larvae attach to the roots and death is quick. I called the local hydro store but they have nothing to rid them.

azamax is what i'm using and it took care of all my problems. mix a little in with your ferts and a little in a spray bottle.

This is no fix but works till you can clean out your area I use Fly strips in the cabinet. the Larva must come from the dirt. I got some in mine the same time I transplanted a clone from the dispense.
They are like the ones that come home from the market in the brown part of the banana. Larva warms up and hatches. Cut off the brown part when you get the banana's home and that will get rid of the flies in the kitchen, But in the cab I do not like to use poison if they are not getting eatin. So the fly strips keep them all in one place where I can see them. LOL

I spoke to my guy at the hydro store who knows all the answers, he is very hard to get ahold of. He said that is nonsense that they will kill the plant but yeah they eat the roots very very very slowly. The problem is just the swam of gnats that will come. He said it isn't worth the money to rid them from four dirt plants, use something to control the gnats and stop watering so much.
That is what I was told, set me straight if I am wrong.

I have a great way to get rid of nats, it take 3-4 days but over the days you'll see the numbers decrease.
Step #1
Get a small glass or mug (clear seems to catch more i have no idea why!!)
Step #2
Pour some vinegar (apple cider vinegar I use) into the mug about 1/3 full is good maybe a little less.
Step #3
Drop a few drops of dishsoap into the mug (to add a little zest
)
Step #4
Put the mug into the area with the most gnats (you can put mugs/glasses in different rooms if they are in those as well)
Step #5
Let the mug do its magic
I get gnats a few times a year due to where I live, I started doing that a couple years ago and have done it since. It does smell a little but not to the point where you cant be in the room. For some reason they are attracted to it and go down for a drink, then they go sleepy

Not really one for necroposting but I have received quite a few thank yous over the past month from ppl who tried my method (I didn't create it, nor am I taking credit just said it like that cause I brought it to rollitup 
, at least in this thread I did 
) So bumping it cause the heat is coming and so will the gnats. In my area they do anyway, so if you have fungus gnat probs, give my method a try it works wonders

I'm dealing with a gnat infestation myself, currently. I'm using the sticky traps, which manage to attract most if not all of the adults. For the more important larva, I'm using something suggested by the grow store, Gnatrol. Gnatrol is described as follows, "Gnatrol is a highly selective, biological larvicide for use in greenhouses to control fungus gnat larvae. It may be used on a wide variety of ornamentals, as well as all bulb crops, bedding plants and vegetable sets. The active ingredient is Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti). Once the larvae have ingested the insecticide, protein subunits paralyze the fungus gnat larvae, which stop feeding immediately and die - usually within 24 hours." Between these two solutions, my gnat problem has pretty much disappeared in 48 hours.

I dont let food or drink get even 50ft close to my grow areas.
I did somehow manage to get those annoying little white flies, didn't try the vinegar yet. Gonna wait till after this harvest and do an overhaul on the room thats infested. Any homemade suggestions on how to get rid of those? I try to stick to homemade remedies, if I had the extra flow i'd run to the shop and get something, but for now homemade is better then nothing (and its made with love

I use my own organic compost as my main ingredient for my indoor grows. I get those little gnats all the time. This tells me my soil is viable and alive. I also have lots of little sprouts all the time that ill pull out if i feel like it.
Gnat larvae eat decaying plant matter, not the living stuff. They will sometimes take a bite from a live leaf or root, but they mainly consume fungus. They also will be more apt to go after a very new and tiny seedling, like the weeds that sneak into my grows rather than a nice healthy plant.
I also trap small spiders and put them in my grow room.
