I need to rant for bit.

Anyone who's known me long enough has seen me post a few of these threads where I just let myself tear whats left of my hair out in whats obviously a desperate attempt to express my disgust at the bullshit i've been observing, So if you don't want to hear it, get the fuck out. There is the door. Ok?

Nancy Pelosi: Ahem. Now. I don't find myself agreeing with her often. But, i hate to admit it, i sure as fuck do on this. She's right about being really, really careful when it comes to impeachment. Just to impeach a guy for the sake of fucking impeaching him is a total dog-and-pony show that anyone could see through. It's like what they tried to do to Clinton.

I mean, granted the committees are trying their best to cull all these documents that would be supposedly damning evidence showing that the obvious obstuction pales in comparrison to all the other corrupt bullshit he and his family have been caught attempting, at least to date - and we've seen some really serious shit dripping and leaking out in the past few months - but the point being - to impeach, you need a fucking slam dunk.

Because impeached doesn't mean convicted of anything. It's basically just the equivalent of the House indicting somebody - and the Senate can't remove from office until they get a 2/3's majority. impeachment is not a magic wand, and it will not cause him to just somehow fall through a trap door.

Look at the fucking Senate right now. How the fuck do you get the most sycopahntic, braindead and bought-out bunch of shit-suckers to convict the person they've spent the last 3 years destorying their careers to defend? I mean, there could literally be video evidence of him raping and murdering a hooker or two and they'd find a way to argue that not only was he absolutely in the right for doing it, but that the victims actually had it coming. Then they would still vote to keep that sick piece of shit in office, even though they all secretly hate his fucking guts for it.

They love the fucking tax scam. They're getting away with looting the store like never before.

They love putting these borderline neo-nazis and religious fanatics on the Supreme Court, and packing the federal courts all the way back down.

They'd do anything to keep him in office. Shit.

But, even if he WAS removed - then what happens? We've never found out! The whole reason we got Nixon rode out of town on a rail for what could now be considered less than half of what Trump (let alone Bush, Reagan and W did combineed) is because he completely lost the support of his own party.

If the thing fails, then the target of this whole operation becomes even more powerful. And he's already trying to spin it that way. We’ve seen him begin to talk about what a great place in history he’ll have. Now that articles of impeachment are imminently coming down on Trump, let’s just say that he’s taking his self aggrandizing hyperbole even further.

Check out this tweet from the other day:
“Not only have the Democrats not advanced key pieces of legislation that would help the economy, but the polls, especially in early states, are showing that voters are tuning out.” @PeteHegseth They don’t want our greatest of all presidents impeached! -Trump

Nevermind that the Democrats have actually advanced dozens of pieces of legislation that would help the economy, and that the polls are actually showing that Donald Trump is on track to lose badly. What stands out here, is that Trump just called himself the “greatest of all presidents.” In spite of the fact that this piece of shit is facing serious legal trouble once he's officially out of office, he’s already decided that he’s the greatest U.S. President of all time. I wonder how many people he'll be able to convince to react violently to ANY kind of outcome regarding what happens with this whole shit-show.

The fucking gas-lighting is scary as shit to me. What about you?

one two three, repeater..
i'm with you, the senate is never going to convict.. as you said, he could be on video shooting some one on 5th ave, and his followers in the senate would tell us what we're seeing is not reality..
it is very scary, he's going to feel emboldened when the senate sits on their collected hands and lets this ass face get away with the many crimes he's gotten away with to this date.. i hate to see how much he's going to step it up as a result of not being convicted.. november of next year can't get here soon enough..

It is extremely worrying. The only thing that I am a little hopeful for is that Mitch used to be a Russia Hawk along with Romney and the rest of the Republicans back in 2012.

Trump won when the Russians co-opted the Evangelical and Racist communities and the rest of the countries easily swayed folks that normally vote Democratic to not vote for Hillary, and the Republicans were trapped into having to support this turd or else having their voters turn on them.

Once the Senate has the impeachment power in their hands will be the first time that the Republicans have any real leverage on Trump. As little trust I have that Mitch will do the right thing, I also cannot imagine a world that he would give up on that power to keep Trump in check to not screw up his keeping his seat. Might not be better for America, but there at least is a little hope.

As long as Democrats do not lose the House, if that goes, everything moves back behind the curtain and the Republicans go back to trolling.

That's an extremely optimistic take. It's admittedly refreshing, but maybe a little optimistic? This is the only president in recent history to LOSE ground in in the south by upwards of ~25 points at a time - and this is the same territory he won in 2016 w/ +13 -25 points. When is the last timne you've heard of a Republican president losing the FUCKING BIBLE BELT at ~18-25 points on average (even after spending hundreds of thousands to stump for them?) It's like the fucking kiss of death!

I guess we're just going to have to see, though.

I think it is naively optimistic too, but I keep trying to hear the exact words the worst of the Republican leaders (Mitch, Lindsay) and they word what they say very carefully generally to stick on message, but also if you take the exact wording can be construed into meaning something different. So if nothing else, they have not just gone full lies like Trump, and the rest of the proven liars.

Watch this 1 minute video for an insight to how politics has changed over the last 60 years. It was made as a comedy thing to make people laugh, but I think it's very fucking telling.

There used to be a mutual respect, it began to seriously erode about 20 years ago.

Today's politics aren't based on the same set of facts. Thanks internet.

Absolutely fucking perfect. The level of integrity is so much fucking different now. JFK, Reagan would literally spit on Trump's orange face. Can't even say for sure what the fuck "Conservative" even means anymore....

Divide and conquer. While this impeachment circus has been going on, both sides reauthorized the patriot act, ensuring the continuing evisceration of our civil liberties. Our federal government seems to be dumbing down at a much faster rate than the rest of us.
