My advice is to move on to something more common. What are u gonna do when u blow a bulb? The growstore will not have a 830 watt replacement. A bad decision right off the bat is gonna get you struck out.

Ballast: any 1000w MH magnetic ...............easy

Bulb: go to your local electric supply house........for the unions/professional electricions......if they don't have it / it's not available yet

good luck

I already have plenty of hps and mh around 6 k I was just browsing and I saw how good the spectrum was and also it has allot of uv to witch is cool I was just going to use it as supplimentary light along with my others as kind of an experiment to see what the difference would be but now that I see how rare and not to mention expensive it is I agree I have moved on I juust thought it looked cool :)

I don't know that the 830w bulb is out yet. I got the latest 330w CDM from Philips here: http://1000bulbs.com/product/59300/MHS-232595.html

You could just run 2 or 3 of those instead of a single 830 which I would honestly recommend anyway. You'll have more even light distribution with roughly the same wattage. Make sure you use a magnetic ballast or a switchable one, not digital. These bulbs do not work on digital frequencies and you will blow the bulb. It is vertical or horizontal burn, I ran mine vertically in the OG hood.

It still says "coming soon" so I think it isn't on the market yet. Haven't seen anyone who has one.

I ran a balance of HPS and MH in my room and the smoke turned out amazing, It's worth it IMO.
This is a great way to do it! I recommend the same with CDM as well. You could run it by itself, but I feel that in conjunction with HPS, it is unbelievable. It is very similar to running an HPS and a plasma side by side, best of both worlds.

I, too, got excited when I found out these existed before they were easy to purchase online. I ordered one of the 830W here http://www.bulbs.com/eSpec.aspx?RefId=1006&ID=18388

and the corresponding pulse-start M141 ballast (magnetic works too) here http://www.iballast.com/pulse-start-metal-halide-ballast/1000-watt-pulse-mh-ballast/p1000ml5ac5m-500k.html

I look forward to growing with this. Going to use it drop-down bare bulb (since the 830 must be used vertically) on a light mover in an aisle between two rows to provide some great side lighting with a double ended 1000w gavita HPS system above (and likely LED and induction fluoro supplemental as well)
