Going into bud. got a couple questions.

Well I think i'm ready to bud, my plants are about 2 - 3 ft tall. I'm gonna leave them on 24 hours for about another week or 2 and then i wanna cut the light back. Someone was telling me I should change from my MH to my HPS bulb a couple weeks before I cut the light back to get the plants adjusted to the light difference. what are some opinions on that? also what do you guys think the best light schedule is for plants in budding? and also would it be a bad idea to use superthrive in budding?

Don't use superthrive in flower...12/12 is widely accepted as the "best" light period for flowering...Don't need to switch them to HPS a couple weeks before, but it won't hurt...

2-3 feet? You're gonna have some big plants...Indoors they tend to double or triple in size when switched into flower, maybe less for larger plants though.

thanks brotha. i was hoping to go for a pound a plant. not expecting it but that was my goal. i sure hope they get big :hump:

What kind of lights are they under, and how many plants?? If this is your first grow, a lb. per plant might be a little ambitious, but anything is possible! :) But don't worry, I think they'll get big.

its under a 400watt Metal Halide bulb right now and there is 2 great white shark. and 2 greenhouse church plants. all originally in 3x3 rockwools. 3 were transplanted into 5 gallon buckets with mini rockwool cubes, and the other is sitting on top of a grodan big mama cube which is sorta working. but there all otherwise very healthy hungry plants. and yes this is also my first grow. i won't be disappointed if i don't get a lb a plant but that would be pretty rad.

Well, under a single 400w light, you'd be more realistically looking at 200-250 grams TOTAL, maybe 300 if you do an excellent job the first time around...But once again, anything is possible...It's just you don't see many growers achieving more than 1g/watt of light...More like 0.5g/watt usually, though you hear stories about random ScrOG grows where people claim to get like 2g/watt, but those are usually just stories.

I hope you have vaulted ceilings and a few 1000 watters over those girls. They will be trees. If you think bigger plants mean more bud, you're right only if you can feed them like the Earth and Sun. Without the root mass and lux numbers, bigger plants mean nothing but tiny buds all over a huge, hard to manage beast. If they are sativas you could be looking at a 9-10 foot girls in a month. I hope you have these in huge pots.

Nevermind, I feel I am wasting my time. Even I don't always reach the holy grail of 1G/Watt.

IF you wanna come close to 1lb per plant, you're gonna need to add a few thousand watts of light...That part is true.

I got a pound from a mother once, but it was in veg for months with every lst I can name. It is a waste of time. Larger plant numbers with smaller stature plants typically yields more bud in the same time frame because of decreased vegging times.

i plan on getting a 1000 watt light for my next grow and using this one to clone. even 200-250 grams would make me happy. and TheDuder they are in 5 gallon buckets.

I saw a grow in a barn in Montana once, guy was easily getting over a lb. per plant, but I think he was running like 25,000w, and growing them in like 30 gallon trash cans. Also his lights were suspended like 10 feet above the tops of the plants, and most of the heat stayed at the top of the barn. Nifty trick if you have 30ft ceilings...lol

A 400 watt will likely be to much for a clone. They would need to be well rooted before attempting such an HID system. Have you read a grow bible or the like?

that sounds legit as fuck

I grow in 5 gallon buckets and flower at exactly a foot. My dozens are a week into flower now and are near 2 and a half ft. already.

not really i'm just kinda getting info from "here and there" i thought about cfls for cloning too. i'm not too worried about that yet tho. i'll definitely be upping to a 1000 watt though. I actually have a couple books I'm just too high to ever sit down and concentrate on text

Keep in mind 1000w puts out a LOT more heat than 400w...You're gonna need a significant ventilation upgrade...(I'm only assuming that you don't have a bunch of inline fans lying around)...

If your reflector/hood air cooled?

Look up Jorge Cervantes's Ultimate Grow on YouTube, no text. A 600w packs a similar punch because the room will likely not have the heat issues of a 1000w. If you can manage to ventilate it, go with the 1000w; there is also the power bill and circuit rating to consider.

yes, I plan on putting more money into my grow room as a whole after this harvest. someone gave me some clones and i was just kind of thrown into this with no money or knowledge at all and i'm just tryin to get as much as I can to keep me stoned till next harvest.

I'll definitely take note of that. how much does each one usually yeild?

That is a good goal for a first grow.
