Going to make my first living soil - Recommendations/Lessons Learned

I’m going to be using build a soil for the first time and as there’s so many different potential combinations I wanted to see what everybody else is running. Even maybe get some recommendations and learn from your experiences as well as any other bits of knowledge. All I really know is I want pest control built in.
