I'm sopposed to meet with recruiter today so I can get my paperwork.
I'm going in to be a m.o.s (field medic).
I have to do a lot of training for it
I am nervous as fuck.

I'm going to read them over and over to make sure I'm OK with it.
I know once I sign I can't go back.

I would like to hear from vets and any current soldiers about basics and what we do there.

Also if possible the advanced training as well.

Jut remember , the Guard s not about protecting the USA, their primary mission is to hold and manage ground taken by your Fronts.

I have given him no reason to doubt me.

If this is case I'll contact a different one as this is what I want I need to make the effort to make it happen.

Thats not necessarily true, the guard has served in almost every conflict especially recently.
Even Chesty Puller 4 time Navy cross recipient said ; 'The only thing the regular armed forces are for is to keep the guns warm', .

I had a customer years ago who was his driver at one time.
Chesty told his battalion that he 'had 4 Navy Crosses and he was going to win the Medal of Honor if he had to bring their dog tags back in a 6 by.
Chesty's son had both legs blown off in Vietnam and later took his own life, bobby trap.

Justin Bieber is a guy.

Not by my deduction, by your statements. I quoted, I tried to use little words so you'd understand.

I never said the guys I worked with would waste YOU, just your shitty opinions.

If being a pussy means I'm not a war mongering, judgmental bigot, with a propensity to insult and imply threts, than I am what I eat.

I didn't serve for a couple reasons. When I was 17 and tried to "pre-enlist" with the USMC I was denied. My reason for wanting to join? "I like hurting people, and I want a safe outlet." That was a "no go." When I was 18, I enlisted, I went through boot camp, I made it up until B.C. changed the game, and booted everyone with "violent, criminal, or gang related tattoos" and people with juvenile records. When I was 30, I worked for a little company -- Raytheon -- you might have heard of them. I wrote what's called "end point termination software." That's when I worked with the military. Can't discuss it further, national security and all...

The "ass wasted," I'll come back to it, because it encompassed the "pussy" remark. PM me when you are in town, we can grab a burger at The Frontier, and I'll tell you to your face that you are a war mongering sexist bigot. I'll explain, in a calm fashion, exactly why I feel that way.

No one thinks I'm a shitty mod more than me. I am a mod for one reason. I've been a part of this board since 2009. I forgot my old account name (although I remember the password.) When I was a fugitive, this board was here, and I had friends on it. I got out, expired my parole, rejoined, and this board is a major part of my life. I don't like people, here, I meet others that I DO like though. The reason I became a Mod is so that I could contribute to a community that's given me a much more broad outlook. It was suggested that I ask -- by a couple people -- to become a Mod. I didn't want to, because I think a self-serving psychopath shouldn't necessarily wield power. Apparently a person with a good reputation, that tries to follow the rules, loves this community, and is willing to help out on this site is exactly the qualities needed for a Mod.

And finally, I'm not a dick. I'm a sociopath. Which is why I know how the military handles sociopaths that attempt to gain entry.

You attacked -- were you really, I mean REALLY, surprised that your bullshit "fuck you anti solders" rant was questioned? Especially when it wasn't a "fuck you solders" thread, and your choice of victims said nothing contrary about most of the military?

Dude, it is OK.
Will you forgive me?

I get the fact that posts on a forum can come across differently than if the words were spoken in person....
I do not appologize for my opinion, I do believe that every human is entitled to their opinion...whether I agree with it or not and I did not intend to be condescending...my opinion and your opinion are equal in value and relevance.

As you stated, the thread is not anti-military. I did go all defensive because there were posts condemning the military even though the thread was not for or against military sevice. The OP is looking for advice, not moral direction.

Whether you agree or not with political policy, the service to your fellow man in any capacity that you can is admirable. That is what I wanted to express.
Some people join the military, some work at the foodbank, others join the peace corps....we all desire to serve, sacrifice, inspire, and grow...one way or another.

I respect your experience, it is yours. It is different than mine and no less than mine.
Mine has not been all roses and shit but obviously not the same as yours.

I am not a bad ass killer (by my moral compass), I am not a sociopath, I am not a mouth breathing whatever....I have been in combat, I have seen the absolute worse that man can create...but I still maintain a sense of positivity that we as a country/culture are better than alot of other places in this fucked up world.
Our military is the sum of all who are in it.
If we hire shit bags we have a shit bag military.
If we hire good people......

Obviously we have a mixture because perfection is impossible.

I can appreciate that a generic nobody American wants to better him/herself by looking to the military for a chance at something more..and depending on your opinion.... better life.

I wish you no ill will, and I hope you can find both internal and external peace.

Peace.

Mad respect , well said and good for you.
Now no matter what happens keep it cool , its not about the other person its about you. The fact that you could apologize is something i hold in high regard, that is what separates the men from the boys.
Dont be surprised if some mistake kiindness for weakness and dont be surprised if some dont understand what being in battle does to a person,,,,forever.
All the best and well done.

If we tear eachother apart we all lose.
Thankyou for the kind words and regards...+rep.

The other side of the coin. its about the people urinating to your left and right

.youtube.com/watch?v=27f2ZDKxw-o
THAT is fucked up.
THAT goes against what I believe in.
THAT is not what the U.S. military stands for.
THAT I condemn.

THAT is not what the majority of U.S. military personnel stand for.
There is no honor in that.

That is very bad and im sure the survivors will need years to forgive themselves and if they see no need then it doesnt matter they are lost.

This is exactly the kind of propaganda that left an entire generation scarred and vietnam vets ashamed for no reason.
If you havent been in combat then you really cant judge. My advise to you is to research the conflict in Syria on you tube, the unspeakable acts of violence directed at those of the SAME religious ideology. Barbarity at its finest. These are the people we are sending CHILDREN to fight, they are NOT good guys in this case, they really arent and we are sending kids. I mean no disrespect to our armed forces but i also know how flippin stupid i was at 20 something.
Please be careful , i know you dont want to hurt anyone but im telling you ive seen grown men who where documented straight up killers burst into tears fo no apparent reason, just something that reminded them of a situation.
Even today people regard ptsd as a weakness, but its out there, invisible and debilitating and its killing our young people.
2.7 million 19 and 20 year olds went to Vietnam, 211,454 dead and wounded , 3 times that many killed themselves once they got home, either by drugs and Alcohol.
Lifes to short fellas

deffinatly do not believe ever military personal pisses on dead bodies.

But it happens. when doublejj glorify the marines and such he leaves out the negatives, and there is many negatives that video was just one.

I just wanted to show the other side f the coin.. something doublejj is not doing but should be doing.

I have read about doublejj struggles after he did time in vietnam yet he is pushing a whole lot of pro recruitment videos in a thread started by someone who is considering joining.

doublejj I thought you would be more into turning young men away from wars, or atleast show both sides to it instead of just military propoganda and slogans. do you realy want to push someone possibly into a situation that you too have struggled with?

''its about the man to your left and right'' or whatever quote that gets thrown around, well the truth is the man to your left r right could be a sicko racist that just wants to kill shit, types like minesmoker who confessed to trying to join because of the idea of hurting/killing people is appealing to them
