Golden/Green Dragon Tincture and spiked honey.

I posted about a recipe I found and tried it out last week. I've been making Master Wu's Green Dragon Tinctures for a while with great results but nast ass taste. So, here's what I did:

I double this recipe..Basically do it twice at the same time. I do a rough chop on about an ounce or so (between 1&1.5) of trimmings and smaller buds from my last grow. I ended up with about 24 ounces or so that is great smoke, but the buds aren't big enough or trimmed close enough for most dispensaries to get top dollar donations for.

After the rough chop I decarboxylate in the oven at 220 for 15-20 minutes then raise the temp to 280 until the stove hits that temp then turn the stove off and leave the bud inside for 5 more minutes.

Next I place the decarbed bud in a wide mouthed 1 quart mason jar and place it in the freezer with a 1/5 of 190 proof Everclear. And leave in the freezer for 24 hours.

After 24 hours pour the freezing cold everclear into the frozen bud mason jar until the everclear covers the bud then shake the shit out of the jar as hard and as long as you can, but not soo long that it gives the bud a chance to thaw.

( What you are doing here is freezing the water soluable parts of the plant and extracting the THC in the form of the frozen trichomes breaking off the buds and being absorbed into the alcohol).

I pour/strain the contents of the mason jar (which is golden in color) through a fine mess coffee filter into a crock pot on high lid on till it heats up. Then repeat the process above with my other prepared batch.

I then reduce my liquid by 50%. Usually between 20-24 oz down to about 12oz.

I put both first run mason jars with the bud still in it, back into the freezer for a refreeze and to do a second run. The second run doesn't turn out as potent or golden as the first run..But it's still kick ass!! I have mixed the first and second runs but if you want really golden color, just use the first run.

1. You can leave it a straight tincture..which I like to add to a good IPA...usually 5 drops from an eye dropped gived me a really good buzz for several hours.

2. If you like to put it straight under your tongue, (which I wouldn't do straight) I add 4-6 ounces of honey to the 12oz reduced tincture and cook it for 15 minutes, this allows you to still use a dropper bottle.

3. Add 12 ounces of honey to the 12oz of tincture and reduce to 20 oz of honey tincture. I tried this last week and put 1 teaspoon in a cup of tea and was sent flying sky high (too high) for 5-6 hours.
