Are you ever gonna quit trolling me you fu*k? I only make wax when someone asks for it. I'm not perplexed about "the muffin". Been doing that shit for yrs. I asked how someone kept an inflated muffin hard as a rock at 0 vac. Then crushed into crystal dust (never seen b4) apparently nobody else has either. Hmmm. Chloroform is another easy synth. Mr. Chemistry. Why would you buy it? Isn't it on chemical watch lists? Why wouldn't you make your own? I first synthesized "chloroform" when i was 19. Granted it ran away on me the first time i tried it, but it is a simple synth. It is a good fat solvent so I can see how it would remove lipids. That was a compliment. I love the way my concentrates turn out, and so does eveyone i mess with. So im not changing anything. Just upgrading equipment since i got robbed. I wouldn't worry about everyone switching to a tricloromethane extraction. I don't break the law anymore so I have nothing to hide from "big brother". There are huge, established, LICENSED cannabis concentrate labs all over America recording their labs. You think "chloroform" is some secret solvent. I think u may have inhaled too much. Thats funny. If nobody likes honeycomb wax why do people request it? Why did it win 1st place on LA Cannabis cup? Some people like dabbing wax. Don't know what else to say. I mostly make shatter only because that's requested more often. I vape all of it. Love variety. My elderly mom smokes co2 distillate I fill into cartridges for her. My friend give her a dab. The dab was almost the size of a pea she said. She puked her guts out. I was pissed! Asshole! Basically gave my 70yr old mom the equivalent of an eighth of bud in one hit. He thought it would be funny. Dick.

You're fighting with the wrong guy.gwpharms is a good dude.he was one of the first members on here to speak about the dangers and irresponsibility of the butane craze(that I saw) and he took a lot of flak for it.when everyone was hailing how great butane wax/shatter was,he suggested different methods and applications and for us to be careful, do our own research,not to rely on YouTube vids/forum info and not gobble up the lies of how great and safe butane is/was.he may not have laid out his process step by step in open forum,but he has been pretty open about his method if you check out his posts.it was over 2 years ago he arrived posting about ethanol extraction and it seems to me,more people are going in that direction.:peace:

I don't doubt he is a good person. I don't know the guy. All I know is he comes off like a know it all type that thinks he is better than others. If he is hating because I use n-butane, and it is so dangerous. Why is he recommending chloroform? Which is a far more dangerous solvent? Someone simply asked how I make my dabable concentrates so I layed it out completely for them to see. Then your buddy has to publicly talk sh*t, but offers no advice in return. Just more sh*t talk. I am an open book. Here to teach and learn alike. Last thing I wanted was to make any enemies on R.I.U. I understand you respect him. He still needs to earn mine. Which I doubt he cares to. If he doesn't like butane, he wouldn't be the first to say so. I prefer to use 100% n-butane. Then "polish" with 100% organic ethanol. That is way I do a majority of my solvent based extractions. Like it or not. The last lab results i got only had 6ppm of residual solvent. My state allows a whopping 5,500ppm of residual solvent. Used to be only 500ppm which is still way too much. I don't know if was the fda or liquor and cannabis board deemed those levels safe, but even if they were safe, it will never be stable oil. I really am a friendly person, and I love people. I shouldn't have let that dude bug me. Point taken tho NatureBoy. Peace brother.

Yes everyone has seen the Doug's lab and chem player and Nile red you tube videos on bleach and acetone to make chloroform It's fun and easy to do at home and reletivaly safe. That is Not how its made industrially. Theres 101 other ways to make it at home too. Which one did you do? If you do the hypochlorite method and plan to use the product, please purify the hell out of it. Especially if you're using hardware store acetone. Not just distilling it and think its pure.

I should not have said anything tbh. Just saying for the sake of the discussion at hand that technically, on paper, tri chloro or di chloro mehane would be the best. We in the biz that have assets and and income and taxes and other non cannabis related things going on at the same and the IRS to consider and this thing called civil asset forfeiture. Its all about the money to "the man" if he see and hears you making it and what you got. He's going to want it. Maybe not today maybe not tomorrow. He can wait. Maybe you'll have more to take by then.

I did not learn the synthesis from Doug or whoever on youtube either. I learned it from this older forum that has been shut down for many years. It was called "the hive". I did a lot of dumb shit when I was younger. I can honestly say I am a law abiding citizen now, and have no desire to run out and get some low grade solvents, and make some crappy trichloromethane for a solvent. Maybe if I still had my distillation equipment I'd be more tempted.

The hive and erowid archive are still up though. I stumble across it all the time. Thats where 90% of Doug's lab comes from. I been internetting since bulletin board systems so I am familiar with the hive and the deep web. SWIM I should say. And good ol' indra.lol. you old bees have to remember him
Which method was it you used to prepare your chloroform? Just curious, not trying to insult your tek.
Did you use it for anything ? Do anything with it? I'm assuming you did not do a cannabis extraction with it?
 
Hope we can put our differences aside and stop our petty disagreements. I apologise for any name calling or rude attitude on my end. Sorry. Just felt like you were condemning my product without even seeing/smelling/vaping it yourself. I am open to all intelligent suggestions. I have some great strains that definately translate to the appeal of my oil. I only grow to make concentrates, so everything I extract is from beautiful flower. Some people (like my girlfriend) hate this, and want the flower as well. So I always perfectly manicure, dry, and longer cure about 15% of each crop just for her and a few buddies (I don't even medicate with flower as much anymore). The majority I make oil with, I let dry a lot more b4 I cure. (Almost bone dry.) Makes better product in my opinion. I'm really starting to get into cbd as well. I never thought I would be a cbd promoter, but after working decades of construction it really does help my muscles and joints relax and find some relief from the wear and tear on my body.

The hive is long gone. When "Strike" went to prison it was shut down for good. You can still find some of the write-ups, the threads are gone. They shut down rhodium too but Erowid backed it up. I think you can still access rhodium's chemistry archives through erowid. Unless that got shut down too.

I only say no hardware store keytone because anything in a metal can has been adulterated with rust inhibitors that can and will carry over in your distillation attempts to purify it. And of course nail polish remover has the dreaded diatonium benzoate which is impossible to get rid of as you probably know. Should someone who isn't you choose to do that again they are actually better off purchasing the reagents in purest of forms from a reputable supplier or just Ebay If your buying small amounts and not really doing anything nepharuous. Also most chems that seem shady also have many other innocent uses, as you know. Of course play at your own risk and look into it and decide I do not reccomend it

I'm sure you are setting me up to bash my process again but fuck it. Open book. I used a method I learned on an old thread. I forget the name of the reaction. Exothermic as a mother. It involves a f.b. flask containing aqueous chlorine in an ice bath, and slowly dripping acetone into solution. Using a Sep funnel keep separating. Until chloroform is isolated. Oh, gotta add a bit of methanol at the end to prevent from degrading into phosfene gas (sp?) Sorry. I wish I could remember the name of the technique. It's been 17 yrs.

Lol. Dont be so defensive buddy. You take criticism the wrong way I think when you lay your tek out there and someone says something about their not necessarily trying to be insulting it just seems that way. Thats why these discussions are better made face to face with actual voices imo.
It's the halofrom reaction just to jog your memory. Not to be confused with the halofrom oxidation or course, as you probably know. Hypochlorite and methyl keytone. Thanks for mentioning the ethyl stabilizer for the room. Honestly I keep mine unstabalized becase I need it that way. But kept out of sunlight and oxygen under a nitrogen cloud. Remove it from the bottle with a syringe through a rubber septum. And in the interest of disclosure sometimes I make it sometimes I buy it. Depends what I have going on how much I need and what I need it for. Halofrom works well if one has the means to control the exotherm.
 
Your way is the exact way it has been taught for over a century why would I make fun of it.? You did the best you can do with what you had and learned lots of things along the way that's what it's all about. Most of that stuff on the hive came from prep chem or Vogel or just some old patent. And sasha of course
 
Gw has a few things on here. He knows his stuff just gotta look. Fadedawg is also very knowledgeable. Take these 2 guys knowledge across this forum n combine it with common deductions I feel you'll do great on your next extraction. Ethanol n charcoal filter mix ice cold. Makes a pretty good extraction. Propane/ butane is very dangerous imo. Terpenes can be reintroduced so as far as purity goes alchohol seems to be the better solvent. Also it seems under supercritical conditions alcohol can be very beneficial to increasing total output although majority of it was plant waxs.

5,500ppm residual solvent allowed in CO. Supposedly WA as well.
 
20180929_125012.jpg This is some gorilla glue #1 shatter. This is the consistency i make the most often. (Most requested) Just an N-butane extraction vac. Purged at 90 degF. Once butane is removed i do an ethanol "winterization" twice repeated. I have 5 strains I consistently use that I grow in dwc primarily for concentrate extraction. Other growers will crop different strains, and have me extract for them also. This is some of the best tasting concentrate I have had the pleasure to vape. My Kali Mist has 2nd best tepene profile. Yum.
