This is a 300 watt CFL thats very heavy. Keeping that in mind and the fact that it will probably get very hot, i tied it around its own treads with a steel wire. Good idea, bad idea? will this break the bulb, will it spark or something crazy im not thinking of? thanks for any imput

home depot, 15 bucks :)

lowes had a simular one that you could choose what spectrum of light it was ommiting but that was more expensive. i just needed 2700

Well it's def not an actuall 300w CFL, just an equivalent as someone said. I don't think it will be an issue hanging by a wire. I'm guessing it's about 80w or something.

sry its an emergency and i needed as many opinions as possible?

That isn't how a forum works man. You post your question in one thread and wait for an answer. While you are waiting for an answer you should be researching it for yourself. If you would have looked even briefly than you would have been able to find your answer.

well theres where your wrong tom. i looked for 30 min for anything having to do with steel, wire, ties, and cfls. couldnt find anything. and since its already up and going i needed an answer quick before something bad happened. Good thing i posted it 4 times too because while the people in this one said to do it, someone pointed out something in another one that made me decide to take it down.

My local headshop recommend natural twine (natural hemp string for the irony factor). Advised not to use wire or nylon.

Sounds like some of these assholes need to smoke a joint. I hate when people start talking about forum etiquette...really makes you look l ike a douche. Anyway...I wouldn't use the steel wire, don't really have a reason but I just don't think anything good could come from it.

as i posted in your other thread.

you could use pasts like these (from home depot) but mout on a board turned 90 deg.

If you have to hang it this way just tie your string at the end of your wire right where it meets your light and then the light will just hang down right on top of your plant. But if you can do something like RandyRocket has it would be better. Or just go to lowes and get a big clamp light for 6 or 7 bucks.
