And 1st was?

Mike, lets see a picture of your ghetto cool tube
aww fuck sorry bro i took it down after major fail all it was is i had my hps hung high enough it was side by side with me can fan and i put ducting on the

edge of the reflector right next to the bulb and on the other side was a clip fan blowing under it up and into the ducting bro that's all visually

I've bought 5 1000 watt set up from digital grow. What you have to watch for are loose screws and such. I only had problems with 1 ballast and he shipped a new one same day. Real good customer service. The bulbs are junk. I would order w/o and buy a hortilux. It drops it down $10 another 40 and you get a good bulb..
thanks man ill be looking into it

cool tube is in and the tent is sitting around 80.2 degrees/26.7 celsius will this be ok to run?

also i have to note that my big 6in 240cfm fan is on a controller and the tempt remains the same no matter how fast or slow i put it at ...i have a 100cfm 4in fan is pulling the heat outta my tent.

also side note my can fans are ven tech cheap ebay ones and my only option for a tent exhuast fan is a vertical port well these fans are cheap and have to lay horizontal to not make a noise ...

Just a word of caution,

an unenclosed metal halide bulb is illegal, just about anywhere

for your own safety turn off the metal halide before entering the grow

how these monkeys are able to sell this illegal halide light without an enclosure

even in such remote places as 'merica is a discredit the the epa

or any consumer rights group

Didnt know about that one. I bought a system just like this and paid the extra 50 for the enclosed cool tube.
Does it have a higher chance of exploding?

i tryed all i can i think maby a bigger fan to blow it around im not sure but i might find a higher cfm can fan for the tent
80 isn't bad. I grow at 84 in the summer. Your post about your fans (3 posts above) was incomprehensible to me. If you could try that again, maybe something would stand out.

baked sryz...a bigger fan to blow the air around and maby a bigger cfm can fan to exhaust...
I think he is trying to say he can only use vent on top for exsaust and if he puts fan on end it squeals.. Easy fix though, buy some flexible duct keep fan horizontal hook up duct and run out the top of tent.
done i hooked up some already purchased 4in tube and i laid the can fan side ways on top of tent with the flexy pipe into the top port
fucking deal on that setup regardless of the quality. Nice find MR. Taco!!!
ty so far so good will post pics later ^^..imma run the current bulb for 1 season and get a new later

The Op got stoked and they sent him the 1K ballast instead of the 6 .

A digital ballast will power HPS and MH. Not sure about CMH .

A magnetic HPS ballast will power both HPS and MH. Not sure about CMH

A magnetic MH ballast will only power a MH lamp only ( no HPS ). CMH or what have you .

A digital ballast does not have a switch for MH to HPS it just fires them .

Dimming a bulb can shorten the bulb life.

To The OP. You need a cool tube or vented hood to help your problems. I Don't remember the size of your tent but the 6K might of been what you really needed.

g'day Mike,
How did the new light go?
hope it didnt burn or fry the living daylights out of ur plants :weed::leaf:
this thing is going good sry for no pics yet i got a house to fix or they will demo it on thrusday...

but yes this was a great fix with the combo of the 6in 240 cfm was good but the fan was overkill for the tube. i might switch to a 6in ducting reducer to a 4in and use a new 4in 120cfm can fan i just bought for the tube... and then use the 6in 240cfm to exhaust the tent and see if i get better results in temps ..

so far the setup is going well about 79-83 degrees/ 26-28 celsius temps i put a bigger fan to push the top air of the ladys around and they seem to be loving the light i think i have it way to far away from them all the way up top so the ducting goes straight threw but they seem to have a nce color and have been responding well to the light they love it.. if u notice my post here http://rollitup.org/t/lucas-formula-q.893610/
ive used some cheap sample bag or vegetative nutes and the plants when young were showing signs of ph and cal mag def due to cheap ass MG soil...i used small amounts of the nutes and ph/ppm correct water into my soil and they seem to look nice a healthy :) this was a very good investment still on 400watts soon as i kick on the 600w it heats up and yea XD will see if i can refine it a lil better and will be set

hopes this paints the picture somewhat..ill also update with pics soon

Looking good, do u use silica?
negative this is just and MG soil mix with per lite and vermiculite with cheap sample veg nutes nothing more than distill or RO water with low ppm and ph corrected..some are cross breed fems and some inbreed fems seeds i made but im confused as one of the inbreed is nothing like the other one and smells like a cross over so im all on fuzzle on my call on the seeds i thought i had em label right but i guess not i read alot on riu but im still noob with only couple seasons under the belt and homie approved that i give more love that street bud but im a hobbyist i dont sell i give love ^^
