How do I keep these from eating my outdoor plants?

Bubble Gum or EX-Lax in the hole, a little, not a lot.

two pounds of gun powder and some fuses J/K just go to a home depot and they have some stuff that will keep them away.

This works great

I use those metal traps that jack them with the sharp spikes. My girfriend says its cruel but it works. Take a long screwdriver and poke around till you find a soft spot betwen a couple of the mounds they make. Dig out a 1ft round plug of grass and put a trap in the hole in both directions. You have to use two traps. Use gloves so they cant smell you on the trap. Then put the plug back and wait about 3 days. Make sure you put a wire or something on the end of the traps so you can secure it with your screwdriver or the gopher can run down the hole with the trap. After I ace them I shove them back in the hole so the other gophers will not return to the same place. Good luck. I hate those little bastards!

Every time I have tried to put something in the hole like ex-lax the little bastards seal the hole by pushing up the dirt and my ex-lax was still in it! Thats why I went with the traps.
