It happens to the best of us. I usually find around week 6-7 the plant will start drinking less. At that stage I cut down on the frequency of feed and add more waterings inbetween instead of flushing. For example I'll start running feed once a week instead of thrice.
I think it's also a lingo issue, as when I hear "flush" I immediately jump to gallons of runoff draining with some type of product to leech/break down salts whereas a lot of people generally mean running straight water for the last week or two, which is basically watering not flushing.
It's just confusing and I jump to worst case scenario.
