Looks done, but idk nothing about the plant, and neither do you. Well ppl used to spike kids candy on Halloween so I'd inspect and goodies that some stranger just throws my way.. or not take it... but how do you say no to an entire plant? lol (Oh shit Halloween just past)

If he grew that outside you are in for a world of nasty if you dont wash that shit before you smoke it.
With that said. Without the ability to look at trichomes id say give it a couple days to a week and them chop.
If you can look close at the trichomes (crystals) on the buds (not the leaves) if you see amber on some your ready to chop.
Good luck. Wash that weed after you chop it.

Il go through a quick list for ya.
Bugs, bug shit, bug eggs, bug larve, bug skeletons, dirt, dust, pollen, Powdery mildew, ash and smoke if you live in a wildfire area, and of course bird shit.
Outdoor weed is fucking gross unless you do the right things.
Oh and to answer your question not only will it skew taste but all that stuff will make your smoke harsh.

I dont know him well but i do know him just met him thru work a few times and have talked about growing with him... He said its his last year growing and he dint smoke no more and asked if i wanted a plant

The cold water rinse gets that off. And no I've never tasted it.
If you dont have any signs of Powdery mildew you can use just the peroxide. The baking soda is more of a fungicide.
