Grafting, a supplement.Me and CheecZS tried to graft one today.

My original plan is available on page 20 of the six grafting post thread.

Here's how it went down.
CheecZS came over after he got off work and looked at my plan. He agreed except that he wanted to take it off below the first internode on the mystery plant.
The actual cut made is shown in yellow and the planed cut in red.dbl.jpg
We then took the top off of the headband clone, (pictured here on the left),and cleft grafted it onto the mystery plant rootstock.HBdblpregraft.jpgPLacing graft.jpg
The splice graft originally tried was too hard to hold secure, so I shaved the other of the headband cutting and cleft grafted into the top of the mystery plant.

After the initial cut the headband cutting was placed into water to avoid air bubbles? I don't know if this was right or not.
The cleft cut graft pictured here with the mystery plant root stock on the bottom in the headband in the middle top; looks as if she will survive.DBLHB after graft.jpgGraftinveg.jpg
The wound was sealed with dental wax and it seems you have done a pretty good job.

Well I could be wrong. I just went into get another picture of the plant and I noticed that my graft had gone into shock.

The humidity dome that I was going to use to put over it is too small, so I misted the shit out of it and will find some kind of plastic to put over it as a dome.
The cut lined up good and the dental wax seal looks okay too.
Is this shock normal or did I screw it up?

Why not?? I see your hand on it in the pic psyclops don't unalign it. Oh she's gonna be shocked for a bit....or die

Exactly, Why not.
Just to see if we could do it, why-else.
I'm hoping she'll live.

Edit:
I want to know just how much one of these plants can be manipulated.
For some people with limited grow areas and a taste for different strains, this skill can be very useful.
I am a person who always tries to increase my knowledge and one of those ways, is to run an experiments like this.
I don't know if the skill of grafting will ever be useful for me, but by the time I'm done I will know how to do it.
Learning is a never ending experience; have fun with it.

True but your better off grafting fruit trees than cannabis, it has been done for the same reason you mentioned, however it has also been proven that you can grow out a clone faster and with greater yields than a graft, clones can be flowered small, I have done thousands that might have been 18 inch plants, the top 9 inches being baseball bats, I totally understand the quest for knowledge and I might actually try grafting myself now, just so I can force a female graft to go to pollen and make fem seeds.

Peace

Hmmm...i dont really see the complication in grafting cannabis. The point was to do it just for the hell of it,not to increase yield. Gotta have fun with the girls!

It sounds easy, but i dont think it would increase the yield unless you do like the tomato video in the LAST thread showed. It was ment to be a source of several cloneable genetics from one mother plant. Im with you though. Just for fun, and braggin rights of course. :):):)

I agree.
I grow from clones right now.
Experiment in Grafting #1 Failed!
Plants probably were not big and healthy enough to hold a graft.
Cuttings were handled too much and connection from the scion to root stock was inadequate.

I didn't want to high jack the other thread Ninja Bowler but I agree and will kill this one and go back to the other one.

Did you dab a little cloning gel in the wound? I would of dunked the top in some vitamin B as well before grafting to help with shock.

I tried cloning powder on one, but the connection was not good enough.
I went back to the original thread with failure analysis and future plans.
The link was posted earlier on page one.

The conversation is at the very end of the thread, the last few pages.
