Grand Daddy Genetics

anyone had any experiences growing out ken estes strains?
good? bad?

i got my hands on some grandaddy purple seeds from blimburn last year. plants grew great, smoke was smooth and tasty and the medicine worked great for patient. some complained that the genetics aren't "pure" with this strain, so after much hunting around, i FINALLY got my hands on some of ken's REG GDP seeds. they are being shipped now.

anyone grown GDP or any other medical strains from Grand Daddy Genetics?
stories of your experiences would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!

yea Legendary strain in my book tried it when i was younger now im on the Lookout for it. i grew KensGrandOG. taste was a perfect blend of (GDPxTahoeOG). (grape/gas/hints of earthy/cologne). strong indica. and was only 1 seed/pheno out of the pack i have 6 left

i got that kensOG pack cheap at auction. their seedpacks are too pricey for me at seedbanks (10-12 a seed). my top picks would be CandyLand, Snowcap, GDP.

i hear theres better GDP cuts than Kens out there tho. and im Looking at maddfarmer PurpleUrkle crosses too

idk i like gdp i picked up a pack in 2016? and inbred it to make my own seeds then i crossed those with an interesting purple kush variety i came across. i also inbred the gdp a second time to make some more seeds in recent years ive been keeping those genetics for some time. the seeds i had were pre dungeon vault genetics i didnt listen to the podcast i dont have the time. gdp is interesting its a dense indica dominant variety sometimes youll come across plants that have polyploid traits as well. i find the flowers to be of medium-hard density.

ok. watched/listened to/fell asleep to your vid.
long story short:
eric from dungeons vault genetics USED to work for ken estes and claims to have bred a bunch of strains while working for ken estes. which translates to "people in the community don't like ken estes because he takes credit for sh*t he may not (or may?) have done." this took up about a total of 3-5 minutes of the entire podcast and it didn't really sound to me like eric was all that bitter over it... he walked away with a bunch of excellent seed stock to go start his own sh*t, and has been successful with that as well.

thanks for that... i get the point of people taking credit for other's work. been a victim of it plenty of times myself, so can relate. however that really doesn't change my or my patient's outlook on gdp as medicine... gnome sayn?

i just got some GDP Reg seeds from seedsman a few days ago. dunno if they are still in stock or not. i have been looking for those seeds for over a year now. they sell out FAST.
looks like they got candyland regs today:

i have some candyland on deck for this spring. but i got the seeds from garden of green. *shrugs* have had pretty good luck with their seeds, so hopefully this doesn't disappoint.

I wasn’t saying GDP is crap, I love that strain, and all of its purple relatives.
I was trying to point out why you weren’t getting any replies about Ken’s GDP.
Nobody trusts his seeds anymore, which means nobody takes the risk of buy his gear, because there’s been tons of bad grow reports from Ken’s seeds since Eric left to form DVG.
I truly hope you have some legit GDP seeds in your possession but everything I’ve seen/heard about Ken makes me very doubtful about that.

Did you fall asleep before the talk about how Ken entered strains into the cup and claimed that they were his new strains, but they were someone else's clone only genetics?

lol... i wish you had just said that to me from the get go. that is for certain a fair warning.

i may have? was it towards the end of the podcast? i do recall him discussing working for ken and making a bunch of strains while working for him - without ken's hand or input in that breeding process. as far as winning awards with other's people's sh*t and claiming it was his, no i did not hear that.
up until i fell asleep (and i may have fallen in/out of sleep multiple times) it didn't seem like eric was all that bitter about it and wanted to talk more about his process and the things he was working on.

maybe he was later in the podcast? prolly won't listen to it again... message received. kinda bummed. hope what i spent my money on (GDP Regs... can they f*ck up a flagship strain that bad/quickly?) is as expected... :\
will find out.

thanks to you and bad karma for the backstory (cliff notes version). now i know. :-\

= = =

so out of curiosity... does dungeons vault have some GDP offspring? i recall him discussing "grandpas breath".

I think it was about halfway through, and I can't remember the exact details, but there were apparently a couple of cup winners Ken entered. One of them was entered as Ken's "Bay 11" but supposedly was in reality Bodhi's clone only (stolen by a gardener) Appalachia.

There is some additional info about it posted here in this thread: https://www.rollitup.org/t/bodhi-seeds.518143/page-24
