i hear theres better GDP cuts than Kens out there tho.
...
please let me know what u find. pref regs. i'm not doing too well finding the real deal GDP.

so far i have only seen blimburn and garden of green with GDP fems and regs consistently. but many have complained those genetics aren't pure. others say both come from same source bulk/wholesale puppy-mill sh*t.

idk i like gdp i picked up a pack in 2016? and inbred it to make my own seeds then i crossed those with an interesting purple kush variety i came across. i also inbred the gdp a second time to make some more seeds in recent years ive been keeping those genetics for some time. the seeds i had were pre dungeon vault genetics i didnt listen to the podcast i dont have the time. gdp is interesting its a dense indica dominant variety sometimes youll come across plants that have polyploid traits as well. i find the flowers to be of medium-hard density.
still got some of those seeds/crosses layin' around you wanna part with?

candyland... from garden of green... ?
I actually have half a pack of GoG's Candlyland left. I've grown maybe 3 or 4 of them out over the past few years in separate grows. This may be a testament to how badly I suck at this, but I managed to grow only 1 Candyland plant that I liked. They were all fairly large and robust plants with solid yields, but just tasted kinda horrible. The good one was very sweet and tasted maybe a bit grape-y, but all the rest were slightly sweet but also tasted like onions. :spew:

It was more or less the same results with GoG's Phantom Cookies Domina, which also has GDP bred into it. I just can't seem to do anything right where GDP is concerned.

Look into CSI Humbolt seeds.
They work with a lot of the purple strains related to GDP.
Like Purple Urkle, Mendo Purps, and more.

what medium were you using? soil? hydro?
i have only grown GDP once, and i'm restricted to all organic as i'm growing meds for a patient. everything has got to be super clean. that methodology seemed to work quite well. smell and flavor were sweet. my only complaint about it was it's yield. the buds were pretty and dense, but not a lot. granted i wasn't growing this outdoors and space/time in veg were limitations, but the yield left a bit to be desired. (could have also been attributed to my inexperience with indoor, and my bargain basement lights.) the medicine from extracts worked awesome, the smoke was excellent, but the yield...

i have zero experience growing candyland. but started seed in paper towel yesterday. we'll see what i can do with it outdoors (this time).

They work with a lot of the purple strains related to GDP.
Like Purple Urkle, Mendo Purps, and more.
i have several (fem) seeds from humboldt. og kush, sour diesel, PPD, raspberry parfait, humboldt dream, blueberry headband.
i would like to get some mendo purps. it's not on the official list of strains i need to run and test on patient, but it's on my radar as it's really friggin close to purple kush (which is on the list) and may actually be an improvement. but i gotta work through my official list first.
i did get my hands on some mz.jill querkle (pruple urkle + space queen) a few weeks ago. that and jilly bean F2s. both regs. they will be part of my cross experiments in 1-2 more seasons.

those high end seeds will be for my pleasure/time at some point. just not now. really focused on getting patient the right meds. so far out of all the strains i have run in last 2yrs both indoors and out (22 in total) we have only found 2 that work properly. acapulco gold and GDP. others have shown good results: og kush, blue dream. but percentage of those that work (for this patient) and those that do not is very low.
the goalposts have shifted a lot since we first started. some syptoms became more priority than first anticipated as condition progressed. correcting loss of appetite became top priority. secondary was full nights sleep. now we are circling back around to find backups for acapulco and GDP. having a hard time finding a backup for acapulco, but pretty confident that some form of bubba kush / purple kush type indica or some really refined OG will fill that role. i know there are more modern crosses .. i know... i know. but we need starting points correlating with the medical studies that started back in the early 90s. this patient is extremely difficult/sensitive. things you think will work do not. things you think would never work, do. so when we actually find things that work as expected with her... gotta go with it... then can look for backups and alternatives. this year's run are looking for backups for acapulco and GDP. pretty confident with the indicas. less confident with the sativas. the sativas either help the mood so she aint agro but don't help the appetite, or help the appetite but make her more agro/combative. acapulco is the only one that works positively for both mood and appetite. blue dream helps with the mood and energy levels but doesn't do sh*t for appetite. but does better than the other sativas we have tried. between sativas and indicas i prefer growing indicas. less stretch, dense flowers, quicker finish.

i keep saying "we" like someone is helping me with all this sh*t. lol.

for sativas (and mostly sativa hybrids) i have on deck/germinating:
- strawberry lemonade (barney's farm)
- candyland (garden of green)
- silver surfer haze (blimburn)
- amnesia haze (seedsman))

the rest of my grow are predominantly indicas. bubba kush, purple kush, og kush, godfather og, blackberry kush etc. looking for appetite and relaxing full night sleep. dinnertime to bedtime. backups for GDP (or replacement if i find something better)

once i get those primaries and backups locked down i can experiment with MY strains. paratrooper's back and knees aint getting any better. the hot weather helps, and so does the ganj. i just finished a barney's farm purple punch auto last month. almost done curing in the jars. sampled a bit earlier this morning. still pretty ripped. that sh*t is nice. (GDP in lineage of course). pain receptors on vacation. mind clear and focused enough to be high end functional. i like barney's farm. i have had good luck with their stuff being as advertised.

The seeds you mentioned are good stuff but from a different Humbolt seed company.
The one I mentioned, CSI Humbolt, is the place for purple genetics.
You can find CSI at seed banks like Breeders Direct.

Purple indica is their mom
i am aware. as stated above this patient is extremely difficult/sensitive.
she didn't respond well to northern lights. got agro.
tried a purple kush knock off (purple queen from royal queen seeds - never again RQS) and she would get hot, take off all her clothes and walk around the house. then fall asleep and freeze. everything is super touchy. stuff you think will work/should work gets her agro or other weird sh*t. i have 3 different purple kush from different breeders germinating for outdoors. have 2 bubba kush., 2 og kush.
trying to make the pieces fit, but she's difficult.
acapulco gold and GDP... so far. have to use what works. still trying to find the backup(s)... and hope there are. cuz she's getting a tolerance built up to acapulco.

checked it out. the seeds are a bit expensive for a strain hunt. i need cheap and small packs. 1-3 seeds.
if it doesn't work, i'm only out $20-50 with the cheap/small sh*t. and i don't have an assload of useless seeds left over that i'm upset i wasted money on.
if it does work, great, i can buy more (or clone the f*ck out of it and eventually try and do some breeding for seed stock.)

if i buy the expensive stuff with 5-10-12 seeds per pack (which yes guys... i know it's better) and it doesn't work, i'm f*cked. spent money on one strain that could have covered the cost of 3... and have a sh*tload of useless seeds left over in an illegal state... not like i can knock on the neighbor's door and say want some seeds?

trust me my friend, i really want to grow some good sh*t from good stock like all y'all suggest to me. I DO LISTEN to you guys when you have good leads and solid advice.... and i have taken advice and i have picked up good seeds for myself for later on. but right now, fully focused on this strain hunt. i have a f*ckload of seeds and strains to get through. of 22 run, only 2 working with 2 possible backups that don't quite check all the boxes, but didn't have negative side effects so we're keeping them in the stable.

i think most of you would be happy with the GOOD stuff i have (that i can't grow... yet...). humboldt, twenty20 mendocino, purple caper, authentic genetics, mz.jill, ethos, thug pug and a few other obscure to name a few. i do listen and i do my research. this is for a dear family member and i take this task seriously and treat it accordingly. i'm not growing for myself (yet) or commercial purposes at all.

thanks for sticking around and sharing sources. appreciated.

just wish i had more space... or local growmies to help me grow some of this sh*t out to test. at this rate, it's going to take me another 2-3 yrs to get thru them all. not easy to meet fellow growmies in an illegal state... :(

this looks interesting...

i was thinking it might be worthwhile to cross acapulco gold with colombian gold... this one above was cheap and seemed a good cross as well... just don't like that 14 week flower time. :O
