Well I have been looking into that a bit.. I would need space to keep a mother going.. re-vegging also requires another tent.. or I need to keep clones going. I don't know how old the seeds are I purchased, would be a pity if they expire at some point and who knows, maybe I'm missing out on some beautifull traits.. and with my ADD I like variety, so I think I'll go with seeds and appreciate the differences and the 'surprise' of what I'll end up with. I also do the same with mushroom cultivation, start from spores.

ADHD here so i know all about wanting varieties. I clone every female snd run it at least 5 times that way i get a better deal for the money spent per seed.

I have Peanut Butter Breath from Thug Pug, it was a 350 dollar pack so no way in hell would i just pop seed after seed after seed. Absolutely need to clone at that price.

350?! O my, well, I guess you are looking for something special then.. didn't know prices could be that high.. for bunch of seeds. But, regarding cloning.. do you keep the original mother? Or make clones from clones? Nevertheless I'll keep it in mind.. when I make regular seeds from the same strain, won't that be somewhat similar to the original? To be honest.. I'm a beginner.. so I probably couldn't even tell the difference, so I'm thinking about just producing some seeds in small batches and live with that. As I also want to try out different strains for ADD.. see what works best.. instead of focussing on 1 strain and keeping the original plants in the form of clones running all the time (as I'm going for a 2x4).. I rather save genetics as seeds and use the space to grow a different variety.. I don't see myself succeed in keeping clones around in a small grow area. (If i'm saying something stupid, please forgive me, I'm a total noob)

I'll also agree with this fella. Those would be good reputable stable "GDP" type generics.
 
I literally just bought Ken's Original GDP from Attitude USA.....hoping they pop and are as good as the early 2000s....I've smoked a lot of GDP in the last 3 years and outside of 1 or 2 of them; it's been nothing like it used to be unfortunately.

Hey bud keep us posted on that I'm very curious. The originals seldom still have the original kick. Like DJ Short Blueberry, it's just not the same as once was. Even BB isn't the best BB anymore!
I'm in Michigan, when weed was legalized the first time back in 2007 or so for medical use, oh man that GDP was amazing, everyone had it and 5 hundo's an O.

Honestly I credit GDP for being the reason sour and haze disappeared in the nyc area....GDP was the first strain that everyone stopped growing sour and haze in favor of. And it was only a few years after that those strains started to disappear.

GDP was everywhere back then....but it was also tastier and more potent than any GDP I've tried since lol

You can buy both strains you are talking about from kropduster: The dude does fresh seed repro’s and crosses and a few interesting other things.
He does GDP f2’s from original stock.
He has the peanut butter breath.
All cheap and he always does 50% off sales and stuff.
He makes an effort with stealth postage if you need it.
I would give him a try for budget beans of the things you like to try.
I have only got a few things off him but the beans all popped of what I’ve grown and they were pretty much what he said they were.

Oh I could never do the sour anything, gets my heart racing and I get the phone about to call 91 1..."yes I'm having a panic attack" lol.
Any chance you plan to put up a grow diary or anything? I think alot of us GDP fans would truly appreciate it.
 
From what I understand, there's Ken's cut that was widely spread and likely what most people know as GDP, and the NorCal cut being the "true" GDP.

Apparently Ken was associated in some way to the NorCal crew (relative? friend?)

The story goes Ken "acquired" (read "stole") cuts from this circle, and then bred whatever it was to something else (maybe big bud) to make seeds.
 
As for seeds, don't bother with the bulk places, whatever they're selling is too far from the original genetics whatever they were.

@shorelineOG has back-crosses, not sure to what clone. I'd assume Ken's cut just based on availability.

Over the years,as a outdoor guy,I've had a original GDP pack,Jordan of Isles "the purp",BCBD "purps",and CSI Hum. "Mendo Purps,and grew them all and only the JOI version actually showed some purple,one pheno was incredibly dank,the orig. GDP had the taste but no color,the BCBD had a incredible taste,but lacked purple color, but subsequent pks.are not even close now,and the CSI,tasted ok,but I wasn't impressed.I'm kind of not chasing it anymore,if I grew inside the JOI is the one I'd keep as a mom,2nd. place would be the BCBD,but i've had it since and I'm out,not the same,the other 2 OK on taste but no purple bag appeal.The best pheno the JOI we're talkin 2012.,
