i referred to this set up as caveman hydroponics for an assortment of reasons, the simplicity and cost being at the top of the list. its definitely no heath robinson setup lol. as you mentioned i am starting in dixie cups with pure perlite on the bottom and sunshine #4 the top 2/3. i plant the cuts/seedlings into this mix and place them into modified 5 gallon totes from walmart. i fit 4 per tote and they usually fire roots into the solution within 2-3 days. i top feed the cups by hand until i have a good root mass developed inside the tote(usually 8-10days). when they out grow the 5gl i moved these to individual 18gl walmart totes. compared to most setups these are pretty lowtech but are capable of growing absolute trees if you have the ceiling room(and the skills). i do like 3-4 18gl totes under two 600hps.....very good introduction to dwc type setup, but a pain in the ass if you are planning on growing more than 3-4 plants.

i just finished up some Chemmy Jones not too long ago, and really didn't find them to stink up the joint as much as i expected or heard, what did yours smell like and how was the high?

the plants pictured later in the thread are all chemmy jones from clone. they are from the pheno i kept. out of the original three seeds there was one pheno that didn't have a ton of smell to it, but was the best producer, then two similar phenos that are absolutely funky. i kept the best producer of the funkies!! i can smell this shit from halfway up my driveway. its a very distinct coffee type smell mixed with rancid meat. gets me bombed out. i have jars of all kinds of killer bud and this is my go to smoke. the plants have that casey jones structure but grow more chemd type buds. did you start yours from seed?

those look every bit as good as mine i'd say...the pheno i kept stretches a fair amount and grows some pretty heavy buds. as far as the smell is concerned maybe you just got unlucky with the phenos you popped. are you in water culture? when i'm not being a lazy ass i add epsom salt which may help with odor. what kind of nutrients are you using?

thanks, but your shit looks heavily coated with resin, much more than mines from what i see.
i grew them in pro-mix, while using dyna gro as my nute base. that round i decided to to go 50/50 dyna gro/dyna bloom and they didn't produce that heavy aroma that this x was supposedly known for.
this time i am got them in coco, using gh 3part as my base, and hopefully they perform to my standards.
this is my first run in coco and got to admit, gh 3part and coco have them looking and smelling better than ever. with that being sad, i am hoping this round turns out better than the last one.

i hope you get em how you want em this time too...mine are so resin covered they are greasy almost. gh is great fert for the $$$. still way overpriced but cheaper than advanced, canna, hg, most everything at the hydro store. even cheaper when you only buy the micro and bloom. i just ordered 25lbs of jacks hydro and 25lbs of calcium nitrate....way cheap. GUERRILLA CHEAPSKATE!! feel free to throw up some pics of your coco run if you want.

thank you robert. i love the gh, especially the price. i get great results using only micro, bloom, and occasionally epsom salt. i started my dwc career with gh about 8 years ago. about two years ago i started doing side by sides with advanced sensi ab and canna aqua flores, both of which performed well...but no better than gh. all of my personal weight records have come using general hydro.
