Grassy smell when does it go away?

When I walk into my drying room instead of dank bud smell I get a strong whiff of grassy smell. Not a hay smell though. Cause they are still very wet and only been in there a day or so. Is it normal to have that grassy smell for the drying process? I also did a wet trim not a dry trim.

You actually want to smell the chlorophyl when drying more than the ‘weed smell’.
It means the chlorophyl is leaving the buds. Dry as slow as possible is ideal.
If you smell the ‘weed smell’ that means you are losing terpenes

The "green" smell goes away when they are dry. Unless you harvested too early, in that case it just gets worse.
Could you please explain why this happens?
I harvested my outdoor a month ago and it still tastes green. But the indoor harvested a month ago hanging right beside it is ready to smoke?
Could me taking it a week earlier then I want due to bud rot be the problem?

In my opinion, it will never go away. Grassy or hay-ish weed will smell and taste like grass and hay.

Everything I run is loud all through the grow, the chop, the dry, and the jar.

I had this problem before many years ago it was due to shitty genetics and trying to wet trim.

My best advice is to dry slower. Drying too fast traps chlorophyl in the buds.

here are ideal drying conditions but obv we use what we have.

Drying/Curing

55-60% humidity. 60-65deg F.
Dark room.
Good airflow but not fans blowing on buds.
5-15 days depending on bud size and pre-trimming.
Done drying once the stems crack but dont break when bent.
Into jars, burp twice a day for 15mins for 2 weeks.
Continue burping as you see fit depending on how humid it is where you live.
Can add Boveda(or similar) humidity packs if preferred to maintain specific humidty. IE. 55%, 62%

To add. Really you dont want to smell terps on your bud. Its hard to explain but basicaly if you are smelling terps then that means you are losing terps.
This is why we cure. After 3-4wks of curing you shoukd notice the terps when u open the jar.

True but its all about what your trying to do. I cant cure buds. They move to fast. 2 weeks after chop they are being enjoyed by people all over the area. They want it loud where you open the bag and it punches you in the face and that's what I try to deliver.

Well you answered your own Q there lol. Curing will get you what the people want. If they want that loud then it takes a specific process.
You wait 2-3months to flower and 1-2 wks to dry so why not wait a few more for proper cure?

sorry, I dont know any easy fixes for your situation. Good luck

I didnt have a question and dont need a fix. I get top dollar for quality smoke. I cant grow it fast enough. No problem, just a comment. Just adding that I dont cure anything ever and it always turns out top notch.

Same here. Curing just removes flavor.
Any explanation or reasoning for this statement?
it doesnt even make sense. I get it everyone has an opinion but just cuz I say my opinion is that the sky is yellow doesnt change the fact that its blue.
Just trying to understand how your opinion experience can vary so much compared to thousands of growers previous.
Thx
