grassy smell.

I have always just hung my buds and just left them to hang. I know they go through a time where they smell grassy until the chlorophyll escapes. After that the sweet smell comes back. I am trying curing in a jar this time. Hung them till they felt dry on the outside, but the stems still were not at the snapping point. 4-5 days, 67degrees, and 45-55 RH. Now I have it jarred up. burping 2hrs 2x a day. They are smelling pretty grassy. Is it just the grassy smelling stage? As it cures will it return to the sweet smell or did I jar it to soon. Wanted to buy a few small RH meters to put in jars, but the local hydro shop didnt have in stock. Should have them by Wednesday..

well curing can take up to 5 weeks+ sometimes the grassy smell will dissapear just keep burping it like you are i just harvested a grow a little early becuase i had to move i went through the snow stayed in multiple hotels and left it curing in my jar where it froze at sometimes it had a bit of a grassy smell for a week but it did dissapear and i was left with premature buds :( good luck to your cure

Good grows smell great from the start and never have a grassy smell, usually grassy is from crappy genetics or newb growers.

You may be burping too long. And your rh while drying try to keep a room rh of 50-55, go under and it will dry too fast. Under 55 in the jar means the cure is dead. Try to jar them when the stems don't break but snap and still retains the outer skin layer of the stem.

Your bud will smell like hay until the chlorophyll breaks down along with the remaining moisture
