I just purchaced a green light bulb from my local hardware store. And am wondering if it will be ok to be on while my lights are off.

Basicly what I need to know is, can i have the green light on at the night times??:weed:

dude, i don't know. People say plant's don't see green because they reflect green light so we can see them as green. But then I think about purple buds..... Are the colorblind to purple?!?! I think green LED's use a very precise wavelength, something measured in nm. Curious to see what others think.

Hey,,
Im not entirly sure but if you break the spectrum down purple is a combinaton of colours isnt it? so they(the purple ones) are reflecting more than just green but also alot of blue..and red, i think, im not to sure though.

A green light will not effect your plants. I do not know the logic behind, it but I have a green LED flashlight, for when I need to see my plants during the dark hours.
Im not sure why you want to leave a light on, but I wouldnt recommend it.

fuck that!!! strict 12/12 no light leaks. you can use green bulbs for maintenance now and again but thats it tbh if your obsessed with looking at your plants while their sleeping your doing all wrong in my opinion? how would you like somebody shining a stupid colour light in your face at 3am? :leaf:

wow, you really dont understand what your talking about. I and others on here have done it for years, ive never ever had any problems with it and nor does any of the others i know. so how exactly are we doing wrong? because it goes against what you think of as correct? the shining the light on the face part is totally irrelevent.

hey guys, but what about the plants that look purple to us? They reflect purple or violet light right?!?

Also don't purple fan leaves absorb green light?

ugh, sticky bob. We are looking for the opposite of optimum. Lights that DONT effect the plant. But thanks for the bumpage:D

Hah, edit: I didn't understand YOUR post. No biggie. But I can't find a source on using red LED head torches for plants. I have seen the green ones for plants sold at my local hyghdro store

Well thank you all for your input!

Reason for me needing to check up on my babies is to control the RH. Closet grow and i close the door for the light out period. That causes a boost in RH, so then i need to open the door at night times...

THANKS AGAIN ALL +reps!

green light are fine I dont tryst the party light because the they're just painted green and that scratches off easy. I would use green LED light sold at specific purpose stores. I think I read a post by subcool saying he uses green light during that dark period a lot. And I know for sure I read a article in high times about growers using green light to work in the dark.

A lot of people need to use green light because their lights are set to come on at night time or when they are asleep. To work in the room during day time or lights off then they would need a green light. Or to spray pesticides which is best done at lights off.

Now I dont know exactly how or why it works but it does. If anyone could enlighten us with anything except because plants are green I would appreciate it.
