@Deltsy
Thanks for keeping this log. It's very useful to me. I am growing some G'Matics under 600W MH/HPS too. (see my sig) About a month behind you. Mine are in 3 gal pot
Rules of thumb for yield are 2Watts per gram and 1 gal soil per oz. Just rules of thumb. Experts can do a lot better and it varies by strain. Anyway this says your grow was a real success especially for a first grow!
This is my first auto grow. I think autos have a big future. They've come a long way already and will continue to improve, but there's a lot to be said for photoperiod strains.
A much wider selection which includes some amazing highs.
Cloning. If one of your plants is a real standout, you can clone new generations from her. With autos your only option is to make seeds and they may not come out like mom.
Control over the growing cycles. You can have a bunch of clones or vegging plants in a holding pattern waiting to go into the closet. This is especially useful if you are doing a staggered harvest.
With careful canopy management I have pulled 1lb out of my 600W closet (5 plants in 7gal buckets). This was a high yielding strain. Still even 8oz of great weed in several different strains is a lot if you are just growing for your own head. If it's to sell that's another matter and a 1000W might make sense.
Instead of a 1000W lamp, you might consider a small veg closet with a 250W. That way you can veg in parallel with your flowering girls and you can run a staggered grow and harvest every few weeks.
Personaly, I don't care that much about yield, I am more interested in variety and quality highs. Almost any strain grown competently under a 600W will yield plenty of dope for one person.
And yeah, I too was disappointed in the participation in my grow log. You are doing a lot better than me

. Yeah I grow several strains at once. I mostly use 3 gal mangum pots which are 9.5 sq. I can fit 9 under my hps lamp with good light coverage.So many strains so little growing space
