Greenhouse Church - System of a down!?!

I just read that Greenhouse Seed Co. sat down with System of a Down, the LA based metal band, to name the strain "the Church". I have the first 3 system albums, the only good ones..., and i have smoked the church a couple times. I have no idea what lead them to choose that name, but it supposedly came from a lyric from a song. Ive always gotten a slightly "cheesey" taste from the "the church", mixed with a bit of pine-berry skunk flavor. i figured they named it based on that!! geuss i was wrong...

I love GHS Church, it grows great almost ANYWHERE, thx to the hardy genes. It produces a very special all-around high, very cerebral and relaxing at the same time. No couchlock, and no racey-speedy high either. Truely a gem of a strain IMO, especially for the $$.

Anyone know about the system of a down thing??? anyone have any Church buds to show off!?

the genetics of "the church" are slightly different from cheese strains...

the church has a swiss sativa and skunk(F1 hybrid) double afgani indica x columbian sativa and the northern lights which is what causes that double afgani indica...

that F1 hybrid of skunk x super skunk is a bit different pheno than that of special pheno skunk#1(aka cheese) but i can see how they have similar tastes...;)

whereas most cheese varieties nowadays have columbian or mexican sativas plus a (skunk #1) afgani indica x columbian sativa and that combo of afgani and columbian made a specific phenotype out of that cross which is now what the "cheese" is...

so now most cheeses are just double cross of landraces where that specific special pheno skunk variety (skunk#1) that give you most of your cheeses today...

basically the original cheese came out of a special skunk #1 phenotype and thus the progeny branched from there... just so ya know ;)

so the reason why you get cheese out of the church is simply because of the double crosses of skunk in it ;)

i will admit though arjan is more of a marketer and promoter than most breeders and although he does have his douchy attitude sometimes he is still a pretty good grower nonetheless...;)

id go as far as saying Arjan could have hired some decent growers/breeders. but i dont think i could agree with you insofar as Arjan being good at anything besides marketing/advertising/promoting/bribing judges at the CC :p

The Church and The Super Lemon haze are amazing!! I don't care what people think about Green House Seed Co, they produce great strains.

My church(freebie) turned out good....But that was my first real grow and let her go to long but still was stoney. I can't remember how it tasted though or smelled. I should have cut her when I took this pic.
Oh ya she had a earthy taste but once again this was my first grow and was using 3 part FF line up with MG organic soil but it was a healthy plant.

lol thats okay haha it happens to us all ;)

yeah ill admit though greenhouses exodus cheese is a pretty stable and really good quality variety and it really does stay very very close to that cheese #1 or skunk #1 pheno mother...

but there are def better "tasting" and more potent cheeses out there thats for sure ;)

i like the cross that comes between pineapple and cheese... aka pineapple chunk from barneys farm and its delicious and quite potent ;)

i got Chesse on the brain i think cause i just grabbed a pack. Kalimans Cheese#1 was recommended to me by a RIU member whose opinion i trust very very much. and when i saw all Kaliman gear was on sale (50% off everything) at attitude, i simply couldnt resist. but now i'm all excited and anxiously awaiting my package :p

i personally have always had bad results (either hermie or finished product was subpar to me) with GHSC, however a RL buddy of mine just loves their SLH, so take that as you will ;)

I've smoked a few of GHSC strains and I have to agree with most of the "haters". Super Lemon was the only one (in my opinion) that was worth growing. For ONCE Arjan may have one a CC Cup without bribing ;) BTW Swiss Cheese is pretty damn good, as is Buddhas Blue Cheese. Just sayin. Peace KB

the church is made by GHSC so i'll grow it if its free, but if it ain't i feel like i wont be missing anything. as for SOAD, i doubt they actually give damn about GHSC, just more lies by the king of hermaphrodites.

I got some kaliman cheese #1 and their cheese quattro (all 4 of their exodus based cheeses). im waiting till spring to grow them out, ive smoked their gear from a neighbor and its the real deal, very cheesey, got me high for a good while without getting a tolerance quickly. Got some TGA ace of spades too, i'm thinking about crossing them and seeing what i can make.

For what you get in return for what little you pay The Church is not a bad value for someone budget shopping beans, as mid-grade breeder genetics go it's not bad, but it's nothing to write home about.

But if you like strains with names that were at least in some way influenced by bands and want true quality with it, then you might want to try Mr. Nice Seeds Pink Floyd, The Cure, The Doors, The Stones and U2. They are all vastly superior to The Church.

"I just read that Greenhouse Seed Co. sat down with System of a Down"

If that came from the band itself, then I would believe it. If it came from Arjan or anyone else from Green House Seeds, it would not be an injudicious thing to do to doubt it's accuracy. Arjan has told so many lies about the mid-level genetics he sells that he can't even keep them all straight and ends up tripping himself up by contradicting himself.
