Yeah, botrytis can't germinate (sporalate?) without liquid water. It pretty much always starts in the center of a cluster where water will collect and linger. Even just the plants transpiration is enough to make it happen in developed buds when it's cool and humid enough to keep it from evaporating.Fluffy buds definitely do better outdoors when it's wet.
I've been finding a little rot here & there on bigger, denser buds. I didn't notice it when I chopped because bud rot starts on the stem, which makes it almost invisible until it gets to the outer surface. Early bud rot looks like tiny black spots on the main stem of the cola.
