grey slime and no growth

Bubbleponics seedlings are almost two weeks old and only on second node. Just fed 1/8 strength flora series two day ago and ppm are rising from 100 to 120 (today). Noticed gray slime on bottom of Rockwood cubes. Am going to flush with PhD water but any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinkin this 24/7 flow of oxygenated water is just asking for mold. Any tips? Also have two air pumps on four milestones with 18 gallon res

drop the h202 and use 1/2ml per gallon of chlorox bleach. will clean up root issues better than h202. check water temps keep below 70F. If your ppm rising they are drinking h20 in this case your ph will be dropping. ph rising ppm declining means they are feeding. hydro about finding the sweet spot for that strain.

if it is brown slime algae, good luck.

I have been battling that fucking nasty bane of my existence for weeks now.

I have tried

H2O2
Bleach
Hygrozyme
pond zyme
Myco
erythromycin
hydroguard

I think I have inadvertently breed some super slime, it seem that the bleach is not killing it

I just Completely tore down the hole setup again (third time), soaked everything in bleach, switched to RO water, dosed with erythromycin again. I am going to brew up some tea using the RO water and see if I can come out on top.

It was in my pH meter cap, in my ph reference solution, every where.

I should mention that this is my 4th grow and the first three were slime free. I have a chiller and my res stays at 65 degrees F.

Put some H2O2 you should be fine.

If it comes back try some tea

I think it was just mold on Rockwood cubes bc they are c constantly drenched bc I have a bubbleponics setup. I'm on day 18 and they seem ok. Wish they were a link bigger

Have 600mg about 28 inches away. They aren't stretching so distance is prob ok right? Goin to drop 300 Tom on co2 tank setup. Hoping that will speed things up

How close is the water to your netpots? Your rockwool cubes should not be drenched and this could cause mold and over-watering symptoms. However, your plants still look nice and healthy.

I would keep the water 1" inch away at least, I keep mine around 2 or 3". You don't need to keep the water too close because the bubbles will hit the netpot and will be wicked up through the Rock-wool cube. You want your cubes moist but not soaked. Until my roots hit the res I have to mist my cubes daily.

I like to keep water temps between 60-68 degrees. I accomplish this by not only using Reflectix on my buckets but I place my air pumps in front of the portable ac unit so really cold air is blowing on them all the time.

For slime control I also use DNF HydroSparkle. It's way better than Dutch Masters Zone IMHO and I use Dutch Master Gold Range as my base nute. I get HydroSparkle from here http://www.hydroponics.com/shop/dnf-hydro-sparkle-1-l/. That stuff will knock out the slime and help your plants recover. It works against brown slime too. But you have to catch it EARLY otherwise the plants will stunt and then IMO you might as well throw them away and start over. Once slime takes hold, the plants are doomed.

Regular weekly resivore changes, water temps in the 60's and HydroSparkle will keep your roots white and crispy.

What is your water source BTW?

R o but guy in town from reputable hydroponics store said our water here is great for dwc and chlorine in it helps rid bacteria. I hear so much different stuff. Also I have a bubbleponics system so there's no way Rockwool doesn't stay drenched. Have six airstones on two air pumps so water is pretty oxygenated.

I dunno what you are doing but for 18 days they look a bit small, have you tried superdrive? Vitamins could be what you need.

Yeah figured out that was my problem. But now I'm up to 350 ppm and one is showing mute burn, I think that's what it is

Also they have doubled since that pic. Basically ever since I took the top feeders out and made it a straight bubbler, and 3 of the six plants just started growing like yesterday. I think all that water is too much for Rockwood. Had 3 pumps with 6 airstones in 12 gallons so it definitely had d oxygen in it. First grow is not off to good start, now things are turning around you think they will still have vigor and fast growth? Or trash email n get new seeds? Here's pics like three weeks in

need pics of the roots... long story short, if you are having root problems keep res 100% light proof, use aquashield and pond-zyme as a regular part of your nute mix, and dechlorinate your water with tap water conditioner. Any time you get slimed or algae, change the res and rinse off the roots.

don't count on being able to run DWC with nothing for slime control. Your friend at the hydro store gave you bad advice that could cost you your crop. This is understandable because most hydro methods don't have this problem and most people don't have experience dealing with slime. Yes, some growers can run DWC with straight tap water... even put small amounts of organics in the res... and have no problems. They then think it is the same way for everyone, and give bad advice. I think it has a lot to do with your local environment and what you have in the air. One grower may live in a clean home with no pets while another lives in a trashed out trailer with 4 cats shitting and shedding everywhere. Also if I live in CA, and you live in NY, you have different biology in your local ecosystem. I may never see slime.

The important thing is, if you have a slime issue, the slime is something that will always be there ready to gain foothold and bloom in your res as long as you grow DWC. It is not something you get rid of like fruit flies and they don't come back... you will have to continuously run prevention in the res. Some people do sterile like your hydro buddy, but that is a poor choice because it is only effective at low temps (below 70*), has to be frequently dosed, and is more expensive than bennies. Chlorine in your tap water gasses off after like 24 hours, so obviously that isn't going to work. My tap water has chloramine which hangs around longer, but it is not strong enough to prevent slime blooms (although it does kill my bennies, hence why I use tap water conditioner). Bennies on the other hand actually do better in warmer temps and control slime by out-competing it rather than straight up trying to kill it, and doesn't have to be dosed as often.

If you decide not to use bennies, you will have to run a stronger sterilizer than the chlorine in your tap water. If you can keep the res completely dark and around 65*, you can probably get away with plain tap water, but you take a risk of slime again. Also, make sure you aren't using nutes containing organics.

That said... some seeds just grow slow as fuck.

I was using hydroguard when slime occurred. Now using dm zone and things cleared up. Also I figured that tap thing was b.s. bc of everything I have read says exact opposite. You think it's too late for the three that got the worst of it? Will their vigor return fully or should I ditch em?
