Grounded oyster shell: is this consistency ok to use as an amendment?

Hello RIU.

Coarse oyster shell is what i could get, and i'm trying to grounded it by myself.
Also having problems getting Agricultural Lime.

Would this size be ok to use as liming agent? Or it must be more like dust/powder?

Must be as fine as flour. Mesh size is everything for availability and that is simply too coarse. *I* use pulverized Dolomite for pH and it works just fine and has for well over 40 years.

You would just tear up your blender.

Lime is about the cheapest thing in your whole mix. Around here, a 40lb bag is $4.50 at either HD or Lowes or, just about any garden shop or feed store. The smaller bags are more expensive.
I've had mine for over 9 years & still have over 1/2 the bag left.

Could add it in as it is for aeration.. but its not fine enough if your using it for ph/nutrient content.

And they're essentially rocks, so you can't use a blender or coffee grinder. Could try putting them in a durable bag, and taking a wide faced mallet to em.

Honestly though, the farther away from a fine powder they are, the less effect they will have on the nutrient/ph profile
